Glenpool is a city in Stephens County, Oklahoma, United States. The population was 3,811 at the 2010 census. It is the county seat of Stephens County. The first permanent settler in what became Glenpool was J.B. Hutton in 1870. By 1881, there were six families living in the town and it had a population of just ten people. By 1907, when Glenn Pool Municipal Airport opened, Glenpool had a population of 350 people and was considered a small town by today's standards. However, during World War II Glenpool played an important role as both an airfield for bomber operations and as home to the OKLA Air National Guard Station No 2 (later AFNORA). The community also saw increased activity after the opening of Interstate 35/I-40 which bypassed Stephens County and replaced much of its agricultural production with manufactured goods such as cars and televisions that drew large numbers of visitors to its numerous stores and restaurants over the ensuing years. In recent decades, economic development has again begun to take hold as businesses have found new markets for their products outside Stephens County; however, much remains unchanged from what made thiscommunity so successful throughout its history: friendly locals who are welcoming to outsiders; strong local economy that continues to grow despite difficult times; well-maintained infrastructure which includes two state highways passing through town; ample opportunity for outdoor recreation including fishing, hunting, boating and swimming; excellent educational opportunities including four high schools (grades 9-12), one technical school (grades 7-9), one junior college (grades 12-14) and several nearby villages offering daycare services; small but growing number of residents who enjoy quality life among someof civilization's most rural surroundings

Glenpool is a town in Scott County, Oklahoma, United States. The population was 639 at the 2010 census. It was founded in 1893 and named for John W. Glenpool, an entrepreneur and rancher. The first post office was established in 1898. The town prospered because of its location on the Arkansas River opposite the Canadian border and its access to irrigated land. In 1928, Glennpool had a population of 1,500; by 1936 it had increased to 5,000. However, during World War II Glenpool's economy declined as production shifted to war-related production elsewhere in the country. By 1948 it had fallen to 350 residents. Nevertheless, Glennpool has remained a small town with significant local industry and culture throughout its history; today it boasts two grocery stores, four restaurants, one barber shop and one school district (Glenpool Union School District). The early years of Glenpool were difficult due to the area's remote location and lack of resources: water was not easily accessible from anywhere outside of the ranching operation that created Glen pool; transportation was primitive; and there were no markets or other areas where goods could be sold until after 1913 when a post office opened near present day Garden City which became an important center for trade within the community
