This law led to the proliferation of handguns in Gladstone and other parts of Oregon Territory. After World War I, gun ownership increased as soldiers return home with new rifles and shotguns. With this increase in firepower came increased risks associated with using them recklessly or without proper training. In 1923, a bill was passed which forbade any person under 21 years old from owning a handgun but allowed those over 21 to purchase them if they had an appropriate license from their county sheriff or justice court judge. Gladstone, Oregon is a small town in the U.S. state of Oregon. It is located on the banks of the Willamette River and is part of the Portland metropolitan area. The population was 8,812 at the 2010 census. Gladstone has a humid subtropical climate (Cfa), typical of eastern Oregon, with warm to hot weather most days and occasional showers and thunderstorms during summer months. The first Europeans to visit Gladstone were Looking-glass Dick's Party from British Columbia in 1847, who named it after Sir William Gladstone, Prime Minister of Great Britain at that time. The town was established as an agricultural community in 1851 by John Cushing and his wife Mary Ann Merrill Cushing; they donated land for a school and store on what is now Day Street. They also built a steamboat landing on the riverbank for boat traffic between downtown Portland and their farmstead at present-day Glendale Heights. The earliest residents were farmers who raised corn, sweet potatoes, beans, eggs, chickens, milk goats, pigs and other animals for local consumption; later industry began with manufacturing products such as soap made from lye or lime (the first commercial production in Oregon) Downtown Gladstone became known as "The Business District" due to its concentration of business enterprises including several mills operated by Wernher de Vries & Company which manufactured paper products until 1915 In 1957 local businessman Julius Rosenwald developed plans to build a shopping mall near downtown called Rosenwald Plaza which never took off because there wasn't enough demand among shoppers In 1959 developer Sidney Weiland approached Gladstone about developing an airport adjacent to the town limits but noaction was taken In 1979 when Interstate 5 crossed over into Gladston

In 1935 – 36, Parker Brothers produced what is considered to be the first true air cooledbbguns known as “Parkerized Pistols” This weapon featured replaceable barrels which allowed users To change caliber while keeping accuracy The following year saw another major improvement when Winchester introduced their newly designed pump action pistols which they call “Winchester Model H” This rifle featured an aluminum frame which allowed for extreme Accuracy while still maintaining firepower

Coal mining played an important role in Gladstone’s development and remains an important part of its economy today. In addition to its coal mining heritage, Gladestone also has a significant agricultural background; ranchers are responsible for many of the town’s crops and fruitsand vegetables. The first settlers arrived in 1887 and quickly began building their homes and businesses around what would become their town square (now known as Main Street). By 1890, they had built 4 churches, 2 schools, 1 post office, 3 stores, 1 livery stable, 1 hotel and 3 restaurants/bars/cafés within their boundaries. The name “Gladstone” was chosen as it sounded similar to both Prime Minister John Brightnell Gladston’s home country of England and his native Canada – both countries were then part of British North America (BNA). Over time, business grew more diversified and although coal remained an important part of local economic life throughout most of its history until the late 1960s when all production ceased due to declining resources prices; Gladstone nevertheless retains some strong agricultural traditions which continue to play an important role in its economy today
