Wilsonville is a small town in Yamhill County, Oregon, United States. The population was 1,479 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Portland-Vancouver-Hillsboro metropolitan area. The first people to live in Wilsonville were the Klamath Indians. They founded the village of Klamath on November 24, 1877, after crossing the Columbia River from California into Oregon. In 1907, George Dyson started an agricultural cooperative in Wilsonville with his brother-in-law Hiram Perkins and other farmers from nearby Milton. The Cooperatives became world renowned for their no-till agriculture and their production of high quality fruits and vegetables. In 1916, Dyson sold his share of the cooperative to Hiram Perkins' son John Wernick for $10,000 cash. On July 5, 1865, US Cavalry Sergeant Daniel Boone arrived in Wilsonville on horseback to trade goods with local Native Americans and purchase land from them for future settler development. He named the community "Boone" after himself and granted land rights to all who lived there within 10 years or they would be forced out by government forces under General Douglas MacArthur's Order No. 6884a which applied only to Native Americans living on public lands south of Interstate 5 (the so called "Oregon Trail"). This order led to many families moving away from central Oregon during that time as they were afraid they would be forcibly moved if they did not comply with its provisions
