The origins of airguns can be traced back to early America. In 1795, Benjamin Franklin coined the term “air gun” when he demonstrated his rifle using compressed air instead of ammunition. Women were not allowed to own firearms at that time, so they turned to airguns for recreation and target practice. In 1970, South Carolina passed its first state law legalizing indoor shooting with air rifles – an event which helped increase popularity of air guns throughout the state. Easley is a town in Spartanburg County, South Carolina, United States. The population was 4,844 at the 2010 census. It is the county seat of Spartanburg County. Easley was founded in 1819 by Colonel John Smith and his family after they arrived from North Carolina. The first settler in what would become Easley Township was James Fenton on November 14, 1819. In 1827, the town site was platted by General David Teague and it became the county seat on January 1, 1828. On December 12, 1830 Samuel Foote purchased what became known as "Big Tree" land east of present-day State Street for $1,000 cash including 300 bushels of sweet potatoes he had been growing on his plantation near Braxtonville. Big Tree land has since been developed into large tracts of commercial and residential land surrounding Easley Town Square

Easley is a town in Fayette County, South Carolina, United States. The population was 1,752 at the 2010 census. It is the county seat of Fayette County. Easley was founded by James Ennis and Joseph Pemberton in 1814 on land acquired from the Cherokee Nation. The town was named for General Edward Everett Easley (1795-1847), a Confederate general who fought against Union forces during the American Civil War. On July 4, 1825, Easley became the capital of Fayette County when Charleston and all of Sumter were burned to the ground by Union forces under General Robert Ewell. Easley has a humid subtropical climate with average annual precipitation ranging from in summer to in winter; however, due to its location near Columbia and Greenville Counties it experiences significant weather changes throughout the year due to prevailing winds from the Gulf Stream which causes significant flooding within certain areas during wet periods as well as extreme drought conditions during dry periods. The first post office in Easley was established on December 12, 1814; it closed on November 30, 1865 because of postal service problems caused by Indian wars that raged between 1794-1865. In 1843 Jesse Perry opened an academy here which became famous for its high school program which produced many notable educators including James Fenimore Cooper and Tuskegee Airmen pilot Wiley Post
