It wasn’t until 1911 that the first annual Goose Creek Air Rifle & Pistol League meeting was held which led to the establishment of what is now known as Airgun Association South Carolina Incorporated (AANSIC). The AANSIC was chartered as a non-profit organization under Section 501(c)3 tax code in 1914 and has since grown into one of the largest gun clubs in south Carolina with over 2,500 members!
Goose Creek is a small town in Spartanburg County, South Carolina. The population was 1,821 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Greenville-Spartanburg Metropolitan Statistical Area. George Washington Carver settled in Goose Creek in 1871. The Carvers ran a grocery and bakery there for many years until they moved to Statesboro in 1923. In 1912, the goose creek post office opened, but it closed in 1916. In 1928, local farmer Johnnie Butcher started an animal feed business on his farm called Butcher Feed & Grain Company Incorporated. The company became one of the largest producers of corn and hay in Spartanburg County and countrywide. The first high school in Goose Creek was open for students in 1951 when Spartanburg High School began operation as a four-year program with grades 9 through 12. The current high school building was built in 1957 and is used by both Spartanburg County Schools and Greenville-Spartanburg Schools as their main campus buildings. There are also several elementary schools located near Goose Creek: Stonington Elementary School (opened 1959), Aiken Elementary School (opened 1960), Cantrell Middle/High School (opened 1998), Bellefontaine Elementary School (opened 2006) NULL (closed 2007). NULL means that the school has not been operational since 1997 according to school district records

Goose Creek is a town in Spartanburg County, South Carolina, United States. The population was 2,813 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Greenville-Spartanburg-Asheville metropolitan area. The town was founded in 1812 by General James Knopp and his wife Rebecca Gist as a small trading post on the Congaree River. The name came from an old Cherokee Indian word meaning "watercourse with gooseberries". In 1818, Knopp donated land to become Goose Creek Township. A post office was established at Goose Creek in 1828, and soon after, churches were built there for the settlement's growing population of Native Americans and English colonists. In 1840, John Coker purchased some land east of present-day Goose Creek to create what would later be known as North Carolina School District No. 1 (later called SCSA). Coker wanted to use the site for a public school so that children living within his district could have access to education without leaving their homes. He named the new school "Georgiana" after his daughter Georgiana (or Georgia) Cockerill. In 1845, when SCSA became Charleston County underistor law #3c (), Goose Creek became part of that county and its first sheriff was elected: Jno Henson de la Cueva (1845–48). The first courthouse was erected in 1850 on State Street between Ninth Street and 10th Avenue NW., but it burned down in 1865 while being used as a jail cell for criminals awaiting trial. The community continued to grow through various efforts over the next several decades; by 1870 it had two stores and seventy residents. On December 14 of that year, local farmers voted unanimously to incorporate as a town pursuant to South Carolina state law No. 711 entitled "An act for organizing certain townships into precincts or districts therein." As such, incorporation took place on January 6 of that year beneath the name "Goose Creek". On July 3rd 1895 Laurence Sutherby donated 104 acres (40 hectares) north of present day Duck Pond Road southeast corner Tryon Park Drive & Tryon Boulevard NE for future use as an open space park system including playgrounds with benches & swings etc., which eventually became known simply as Sutherby Park (). On November 24th 1897 Elisha Smith donated another 106 acres (40 hectares) located just south of Duck Pond Road along Tryon Parkway Drive & Boulevard NE towards Lauderdale Heights., which eventually became known simply as Smith Park (). With these donations from local citizens come many important improvements throughout history including: development of roads/arteries/bridges leading into town; construction OF THE FIRST PUBLIC SCHOOL IN SOUTH CAROLINA - West Point Elementary School (); establishment OF THE GOOSE CREEK CHRISTIAN CHURCH - now Redeemer Lutheran Church (); creation OF THE STATIONETTE COMMUNITY COLLEGE - now Clemson University ; erection OF THE NORTH CAROLINA STATE CAPITOL - now located inside Independence Mall near where it once stood behind Sears Tower
In 1795, the British Crown granted land to a group of men by the name of Goose Creek Compact. This land was located in what is now South Carolina and included all of present-day Goose Creek County. The men who received this grant were John Fenton, James Burnett, Giles Aiken,ERC d’Avenant,and James Bowles. These men began to build homes on their new property and soon discovered that they had a valuable resource at their disposal. They managed to find oil shale near their home and began extracting this valuable resource for themselves. The fact that they were able to do this without any help from the government only made them more determined to keep their land and make it into a profitable enterprise. In 1826, the company that these men had founded became known as “The National Oil Company” and continued producing oil until 1896.
