After John Fenton’s death, his son, Harry Fenton, took over the business and continued it until he died in 1951. The company was then passed down through three generations of family members before it was sold to Litton Industries in 1990. Litton Industries continue to sell binoculars at their stores across the United States and internationally. Crossville is a small town in the Sullivan County region of Tennessee. The population was 3,872 at the 2010 census. Crossville is located in the southeastern corner of Sullivan County and is bordered by the towns of Covington to the north, Clarksville to the east, Union City to the south, and Lebanon to the west. The community has been located on what is now crossroads property for over a century. On July 16, 1827, George Washington Carver and his family settled in what became Crossville after traveling from Virginia. They started a market day on July 17th and named their new settlement "Carvertown". The first post office was established in 1829. In 1836, John Sibley arrived with his family from Illinois and homesteaded land around present-day Crossville. He named it "Sibley's Station" after himself and two other settlers. In 1840s a group of men led by James Fenton began developing what would become CrossVILLE oil fields which yielded an income for landowners for many years thereafter until production ceased during World War II when plant personnel were displaced by war efforts across America. Having lost their main source of revenue during wartime interruption, many residents turned towards agriculture as their mainstay since there were no impending military hostilities that could have disrupted agricultural output throughout this time period; however due to changes in technology such as auxiliaries being developed that allowed corn yields to increase fiftyfold while using less water than ever before (a result of technological advances), farmers are currently able to maintain very high yields without needing any auxiliary inputs (in contrast with past practices where farmers relied upon harnessing natural resources such as rainfall or wind power)). Today's farmers depend heavily upon various forms of renewable energy like solar panels & biodiesel production/use which continue providing healthy economic margins both environmentally & economically...

Crossville is a small town located in Porter County, Tennessee. The community was founded in 1811 by John and Martha Cross. The Cross family owned a sawmill and gristmill that operated until the early 1920s. Today, the Community of Crossville operates the New Hope Baptist Church which is also home to the primary school district. The crossroads of Crossville are known for its famous "Blackberry Patch". This area was used for growing blackberries during the 1800s. The crossroads were also where pioneer Methodist minister Cyrus Hosea Smith met his wife, Rebecca Harding in 1796. After marrying her at the crossroads, Smith moved his family to Crossville from Lewisburg, Virginia in 1798. In 1811, John Cross bought land at what is now Fourth Street and Second Avenue in Crossville from David Blair and heirs of James Blair Sr.. In 1815, he built a log cabin on what is now First Street near present day Central High School. In 1816-1817, he sold additional property to Isaac Hardin and others including two miles east of his original holdings on Third Avenue. In 1819-20 when John died intestate (without children), his widow Martha sold additional land west of her original holdings to Jesse Jarrell Jr., late husband of Rachelle Hendrix Jarrell who had married him while they were both students at Vanderbilt University according to their marriage license filed November 6th 1840. From this sale proceeds Josephine Jarrell purchased 640 acres extending along Third Avenue south from 12 Mile Road towards Knoxville which shewed before them July 15th 1830 being part of “the purchase” made by Anna Maria Hardin widow (of Jesse) Jarrell with Samuel Witherspoon Surveyor Recorded Deed filed December 9th 1830 Page 358 Chancery Court having been recorded November 10th 1830 between Anna Maria Hardin Widow (of Jesse) Jarrell with Samuel Witherspoon Surveyor Recorded Deed #1 By order Of Judge Ira Pemberton
Crossville is located in the extreme southeastern corner of Tennessee on the White River. It was founded by a group of Scots-Irish immigrants in 1811 and named for John Cross, an early settler. The town grew quickly and by 1827 it boasted a population of over 500 people. By 1840, Crossville had become an important center for trade along the river. In 1849, the crossroads became a stop on the Nashville and Chattanooga Railroad which made Crossville even more popular as a business center. The railroad also facilitated cotton production in nearby Gonellsburg and helped to spur growth in the town during the late 19th century.
