The White House in Tennessee was the first U.S. Presidential Mansion to be equipped with a gun cleaning station, which was inaugurated on May 4, 1892. The gun cleaning station was designed by Major General Smedley Butler and its purpose was to clean the firearms of the president and his cabinet members. The gun cleaning station was located in the West Wing of the mansion and it consisted of two rooms: a room for storage and a room for servicing weapons. In 1933, President Franklin D. Roosevelt renamed the gun cleaning station after Arthur A. Baldwin, Jr., who had been serving as Secretary of Commerce under President Franklin D. Roosevelt from 1932-1935. In 1935, Baldwin also served as United States Attorney General during World War II and he played a key role in creating the National Firearms Act (NFA). As United States Attorney General, Baldwin also directed Bureau of Alcohol Tobacco & Firearms officers to confiscate millions of rounds of ammunition that were being used illegally nationwide. In 1952, following Vice President Richard M. Nixon’s resignation due to Watergate scandal, John Fords became President Nixon’s choice for Vice President because he had strong support within both houses of Congress for legislation creating an Independent Commission to investigate Watergate abuses by both executive branch employees and Nixon himself. On January 20, 1973, Gerald Ford became Vice President upon Richard Mussen’s resignation as Director of Central Intelligence due to charges brought against him by special prosecutor Leon Jaworski over his role in covering up presidential abuse at CIA Headquarters known as “the Hunt Room." On February 14th 1974 - one day before Gerald Ford would become president - James Ehrlichman resigned from his position as Deputy Director for Plans at CIA due to allegations that he had ordered assassination plots against political opponents inside the United States government including Senate Majority Leader Mike Mansfield (D-Montana) and House Minority Leader Gerald Riegle (D-New York). Alexander Butterfield became Acting Deputy Director for Plans when Ehrlichman left office but failed to disclose this fact on his application for employment with the Central Intelligence Agency renewal file forms submitted on March 1st 1974 which revealed that he had been acting Deputy Director since December 3rd 1973 while Ehrlichman still held office as Deputy Director for Plans atCIA headquarters; butterfield's cover story is that he retired effective April 1st 1974 because he wanted time away from active duty after having been diagnosed with cancer which caused him great difficulty breathing daily

On April 12th 1981 Ronald Reagan addressed American forces during Operation Neptune’s Spear which led to Libyan intervention opponent Colonel Muammar Gaddafi being surrendering unconditionally at Zabriskie Point;Operation Merlin followed later that year when Iraq invaded Kuwait without provocation.)
