When the first Americans landed in Texas in 1836, they brought with them firearms and ammunition. The area that is now Carrollton was already home to some Native American tribes, and so early colonists were able to trade goods and gunfire for food, horses, and other items. Ammunition was also a valuable commodity at this time because there were no reliable ways to produce it on a large scale. In 1844, the Texas Rangers were created to combat outlaws operating in the Lone Star State. This led to an increase in demand for rifle ammunition as well as pistols and shotguns. By 1865, Carrollton had become one of the largest cities in Texas with over 100,000 residents. At this point, Ammo Company had been founded by Captain John A. Brownell (1809-1875) and his brother-in-law William J. Hogg (1811-1890). The company made rifles and handguns for both law enforcement and civilians alike. Ammunition production increased rapidly during World War I due to the war effort; however, it decreased during World War II due to disarmament measures enacted by the United States government. In 1948, Ammo Company merged with Armoury Inc., creating what is now known as Armoury Firearms Incorporated. Carrollton, Texas was founded in 1853 by James K. Carroll and his wife Martha. The town was named for General John Fenton, who fought in the Mexican-American War. The first store in Carrollton was built on present day Elm Street. In 1865, the first school opened in the town. The town’s population peaked at around 10,000 people in the early 1920s but declined after World War I. By 1930, Carrollton had a population of 4,500 people and experienced its first economic growth period after becoming an incorporated city. However, during the Great Depression, Carrollton’s economy collapsed and its population decreased to 3,100 people by 1940. After World War II, Carrollton resumed itsrowth and reached its peak population of 11,000 residents by 1960 however it has since declined again and only has a current population of 612 residents
Carrollton, Texas is a town located in the southeastern corner of Brazoria County, Texas. The population was 5,879 at the 2010 census. Carrollton is named after General James H. Carroll and his family who settled in what is now the town in 1847. The first post office was established in 1857 and was called Harperville. The name changed to Carrollton in 1865 when General John B. Smith became its first mayor. The town began as a small agricultural community with about 150 residents in 1865. By 1870, the population had swollen to 1,000 and by 1880 it had reached 4,000 people. In 1890, cotton became predominant as an economic driver for the community and Commerce Street became known as Cotton Row because of this factor alone. However, by 1930 most of the businesses had closed or been replaced by new ones such as grocery stores., banks and other commercial institutions which continue to operate today including two hospitals (one currently operated by Baylor University) and several large libraries including one that is home to Brazoria County's only branch of the Library of Congress (a distinction it has held since 1914). In 1960, Carrolton-Lugar Land Ford plant opened on Enterprise Rd serving both Carrolton proper and Sugar Land across I-10/Uptown Road which also served as a bypass road leading from downtown Carrolton out into Sugar Land while still allowing access to downtown from Uptown Road thru Interstate 10/Uptown Road onto Enterprise Rd; this eventually led to significant growth within Downtown Carrolton itself due largely to automotive manufacturing jobs brought about by Ford's expansion there beginning around 1970 although some retail development also took place along Enterprise Rd during this time period also helping Drive-In Theatre & Casino Barton Springs become operational before finally closing down in 2001 following heavy traffic congestion caused principally by nearby Rice University students' love of alcohol - much like many other local places throughout Brazoria County during this time period! Today though things are slowly but surely changing again with more average citizens starting businesses their own companies rather than waiting for government largesse or contracts etc.; some very successful brickandmortar establishments such as Sam’s Club being open almost daily now for example not long after opening their doors over 25 years ago! Although often overshadowed at times locally by larger shopping malls located closer to metropolitan areas such as Houston or Dallas (due largelyto competition from those malls’ limited variety of services related thereto), Carrollton nevertheless remains one of Brazoria County's largest civic communities with rich cultural heritage dating back centuries that continues today despite ever-changing trends within our economy; definitely worth visiting if you're interested in any aspectof Texas culture either ancient or modern!

Carrollton, Texas is a small town in Tarrant County, Texas, United States. The population was 1,463 at the 2010 census. Carrollton is located on the eastern edge of Tarrant County and is bordered by Grapevine to the east and north, Fort Worth to the west and south, and Arlington Heights to the south. It is part of Richardson-Wichita Falls Metropolitan Statistical Area. The community was named for General James H. Carroll who fought in the Mexican–American War (1846-1848). In 1881, J.D. Payne founded Payne's Circusiary in what is now Carrollton; it would become one of Tarrant County's largest circuses. The circus closed in 1918 but its legacy lives on through Payne's Park which still contains displays of some of its equipment from that time period. One significant event that took place around this time was when local farmers organized their own school district which became known as "The School District of Carrollton." That effort led to later donations from other businesses in town such as Coke Bottling Company founder John Fenton which helped fund two high schools: Cherry Hill High School (now Cypress Creek Independent School District) and Parkway Junior/Senior High School (now Bowie Intermediate Unit). After years of hard work by many people over several decades, The School District of Carrollton became operational on September 8th 1961 with initial enrollment numbering 154 students including 22 girls!
