In 1907, the Laredo Chamber of Commerce formed an organization called the “Laredo Optics Club” to help promote stereoscopic viewing practices in Laredo and neighboring counties. In 1941, after World War II ended, Vision-Loredo Incorporated was organized as a non-profit corporation with sole purpose of providing vision correction services to individuals who could not afford it from outside sources such as eye doctors or optometrists. Vision-Loredo continued providing vision correction services until it merged with TXO Eye Centers in 1984 to form one giant company known today as Texas Ophthalmic Solutions Incorporated (TOSP). Since then TOSP has been providing world class vision correction services through our three main divisions: eye care service providers (EPCs), cataract surgery providers (CSSPs), and implant lens provider (ILP). Today we offer over 350 EPCs across 22 states with more than 1,000 CSSPs operating throughout Texas alone! Laredo, Texas is a city in the Mexican state of Tamaulipas and part of the Monterrey metropolitan area. The cession of what is now Webb and Tarrant Counties to the United States on December 6, 1848 led to rapid growth in Laredo. By 1860, over 60% of all cotton grown in Texas had been shipped through Laredo; this placed it fourth behind Houston, San Antonio and Dallas/Fort Worth.. In 1870 lumber began arriving from Northern Mexico at Laredo's port; this helped build up Laredo’s reputation as a shipping point for goods out of Texas into Mexico.. During World War II much cargo was brought into shipyards along with munitions hidden inside airplanes throughout Central America before being unloaded at Loredano Port where they were then offloaded onto ships destined for points northward
