The site now occupied by the University of Texas at Arlington opened here in 1911 as Arlington Technical College before becoming UT Arlington Campus (now known as UT Arlington School of Architecture) and eventually being renamedUT Austin (nowAustin American Statesman). In 1916, cottonuropsia started to grow here after crossing Brazos River intotx from Mexico; this led to town growth that continues to this day with many businesses located on Pemberton Road between I-35W & US 290/. Mckinney became formally incorporated as a municipality on December 3rd 1915 when Mayor Waddell announced plans for incorporation together with Commerce Park & White Settlement

Mckinney, Texas is a small town in the state of Texas. The population was 3,515 at the 2000 census. Mckinney is located in Comanche County. It is part of the Wichita Falls Metropolitan Statistical Area. The town was settled by Scots-Irish immigrants in 1836. It was named for General James Mckinney, an American Revolutionary War general and governor of Mississippi before his death in 1794. In 1863, when Union troops were invading Texas, they burned down the presbytery and other buildings in McKinnley to prevent any resistance from developing there. Mckinney’s economy has been based on agriculture since its founding and it currently employs about sixty people as farmers and ranchers, many of whom are also involved in manufacturing or processing products for local markets. The town also has a few businesses that service the area around it: a grocery store, an auto dealership, a bank and several restaurants
Mckinney was founded in 1835 by James Mckinney and his brother-in-law, John Denton. The town grew rapidly due to the discovery of oil in the area and became a major center for oil production. In 1912, McKinney became the first city in Texas to be incorporated as a municipality.
