After years of hard work and dedication to his land, Witherspoon became one of the most successful landowners in East Texas during the early 19th century. He left much behind him including White Sands Plantation which still stands today - it has been reborn as an affordable home community – though much less visible than when it first graced our landscape more than 160 years ago!

During World War II,McKinney played a critical role in supplying munitions for military campaigns throughout Southwest Canada and Mexico before becoming an Allied airbase during Operation Overlord when Nazi Germany invaded England on June 6th 1944. After the war ended,McKinney experienced rapid growth as new industries such as information technology made headlines hereabouts resulting in new hotels, subdivisions and office buildings being built rapidly all around town – giving rise to what is now know as McKinNEY Town Center district which occupies much of downtown area today (since annexation by Austin). In recent years there has been significant redevelopment taking place all around town including: The University District (opened in 2009) containing world-class research facilities; Old Austin (a historically black neighborhood that underwent gentrification between 2000-2010), home to some of Austin’s premier retail districts such as Lamar Center; Midtown/Downtown (home to several high-end restaurants); newly completed light rail lines called “The Line” running through downtown from east side Embassy Row into central business district; massive renovation projects underway at various local libraries including one dominating Eastan Mall which are scheduled for completion later this year; plans being put forth for another large mixed use development adjacent thereto called LBJ Presidential Library & Museum which would include conference centers/bars/restaurants/public squares etc.;and much more!

The city grew rapidly due to its location on the Llano Estacado and its access to railroad transportation.
