Despite public outcry fromienators such as Mayor Lorenzo Snow and General George Smedley III who threatened to close down the city if annexation was not granted within 24 hours – including threatening to fire shots into the air – on September 17th1945 annexation was finally approved with little fanfare or controversy. When that airport closed in 1998, most operations relocated to current-day Bountiful proper (). Bountyful has experienced various waves of growth since its incorporation into cityhood in 1907: from 3 households per 1,000 residents in 1907 to more than 21 per 1,000 residents by 1940; then back down below those levels through the 1970s before reaching today’s numbers (20+ per 1K).
