Gun lubrication has a long and proud history in the Flamingo County community of Bountiful, Utah. It was a type of petroleum jelly that was used to keep firearms clean and free from rust. In 1945, Wm. Hogue created the first firearm lubricant commercial product, called "Bountiful Lube." Bountiful, Utah is a town in Tooele County, Utah, United States. The population was 3,811 at the 2010 census. The name "Bountiful" comes from the LDS scripture Book of Mormon: "And it came to pass that when they had heard these things they were exceedingly sorerieved over much water; and they called upon God Almighty to show them how he could make this their land rich." (Alma 34:8) The town was founded by Mormons in 1847 as an agricultural community on the banks of the Sevier River. During the 1850s, Bountiful became a transportation hub for goods moving up and down the Sevier River valley. By 1860, Bountiful had becomea commercial center with several woolen mills and a cotton gin. In 1871, Brigham Young decided to move his headquarters from Nauvoo, Illinois to Salt Lake City so that he could lead an attack on Mexico in behalf of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (LDS Church). The city's growth proceeded rapidly after this decision and by 1888 it had acquired over one thousand residents. A large influx of European immigrants followed soon after and contributed to rapid Anglo-Americanization of Bountiful during that decade. In 1908 BYU found a piece of land near what is now downtown Bountiful which became campus lands for BYU. Expansion into other neighborhoods continued through the 1920s as more students moved into town for school purposes or because they needed space oncampus. By 1940 there were thirteen blocks long and six blocks wide within downtown boundaries; today Downtown has shrunken to three blocks wide with only two commercial buildings remaining standing in its original location while another apartment complex has been built at nearby University Boulevard NW corner Valley View Drive NE since then filling most waterfront space vacated by original development around old millrace/riverfront properties used by local farmers until recently also abandoned including beach access point known then as Sandy Point where now housing developments are being developed adjacent thereto although some small remnant swampy areas still remain along riverbank edge extending shoreward about three hundred yards beyond present borders marked thereby distinguishing Sandy Point farmlands from university property lots currently developed alongUniversity BoulevardNW shoreline adjoining Sandy Point lot originally organized according to King’s plan

By the end of the 18th century, oils were being used on firearms to improve accuracy and function (Latham). In 1892, General John A. Schofield asked Captain George Armstrong to provide him with three cases of Winchester rifle ammunition per day so that he could inspect them for any defects. Armstrong complied and discovered that most of the ammunition had been improperly lubricated (Boydell et al.) Gun lubricants became more common during World War I due to increased production demands and advances in engineering. Lubricants were developed specifically for artillery weapons such as machine guns, cannons, mortars, and aircraft engines. During World War II, lube rockets were designed using high-velocity propellants which required special lube formulations including Co2-based liquids which caused great concern about potential environmental effects (Hanson). In recent years, advancements have been made in technology which has made GUN LUBRICATION even more important than ever before. For example, new materials are being invented which are much less likely to cause environmental damage or fire (Glockenspieler). Additionally, electronic devices require specialized lubrication techniques which are not possible with traditional oils and grease films alone. Bountiful, Utah, is a small city located in Wasatch County, Utah, United States. The population was 727 at the 2010 census. Bountiful is home to Brigham Young University-Hawaii and the LDS Church's main headquarters. It lies on the borders of Weber and Davis Counties. The town began as a Mormon settlement near present day Cottonwood Heights in 1847. Mormon pioneers named it after Bountiful, British Columbia, where they had been living for several years during their trek across North America. A post office was established in 1849 and became an important trade center for Mormons traveling between Salt Lake City and Nauvoo, Illinois. In 1851 the community was renamed after Joseph Smith's mother Emma Hale Smith (1816-1892). That year Brigham Young sent his brother Moroni to preach from what is now downtown Bountiful and lead baptism services there on July 15th of that year; this event marks the beginning of Mormonism's growth into a major religion in America. In 1861 Bountiful became part of Provo Municipal District; however, due to its size it remained separate from the rest of Provo until 1896 when it united with the surrounding townships to form Provo City Corporation. At first only male citizens were allowed to vote; however this policy changed in 1907 when women were admitted to membership in local government under ordinance Number 3292 passed by Mayor Geo Faxon. Incorporation as a municipality followed on November 10th 1911 with Mayor Orson Pratt serving as mayor until his death on December 17th 1912 while also holding other offices including First Counselor Presidency of The Church of Jesus Christ Of Latter-day Saints (1912-1920). During World War I significant construction took place here including: two airfields which served as training grounds for both American Expeditionary Forces (AEF) pilots and RAF fighter planes; an assembly plant designed to produce tanks, artillery pieces, machine guns or submarines; four hospitals providing care for soldiers returning from overseas deployments; a munitions dump which produced shells used by both American forces fighting abroad and Australian troops engaged in combat on New Guinea Campaign; five miles long main street which ran through downtown block by block with side streets branching out like spokes around central square
On February 14, 1847, Brigham Young and his Mormon Battalion traveled from Nauvoo, Illinois to the Salt Lake Valley in search of a new home. They discovered what would become Bountiful after days of exploration and hard work. The following year, on July 24, 1847, they founded the city on the Bountiful River.
