Beal developed his own method of manufacturing knives which allowed him to produce high quality products at a lower cost than other companies. Bountiful, Utah is a city in Weber County,Utah, United States. The population was 5,473 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Salt Lake City metropolitan area. Bountiful is located on the Wasatch Front and has a total area of 24 square miles (63 km2). The climate in Bountiful is warm year-round with an average temperature of 58 degrees Fahrenheit (14 degrees Celsius). The first white man to set foot in what is now Bountiful was Captain James H. Watt of the Mormon Battalion on July 26, 1847. He named the site "Salt Lake City" after Bishop Wilford Woodruff's visit to that location two months earlier on April 6th. In 1858 Brigham Young sent his surveyor George Atherton to divide Weber County into two parts – Tooele and Ogden were placed within Tooele County while Provo and Cottonwood were placed within Weber County by Brigham Young himself. In 1861 when Utah became a state, both Ogden and Tooele Counties were combined with Weber County to form it as well. In 1863 Brigham Young appointed Alfred Sorenson as recorder for Weber County which he did until 1876 when he resigned because of health reasons. John Payson succeeded him and served until 1888 when he also resigned because of health problems; his successor was Hiram Bingham who continued until 1912 when he too resigned because of health problems; his successor was Edward Fenton Block who served from 1914 until 1916 when he also resigned due to illness; finally there was Franklin D Richards who served from 1916 until 1922 when he also resigned due to ill health; all these men serving concurrently as recorder had no power or authority over any other office in county government save those specifically delegated to them by their predecessors or through legislation passed by the legislature subsequent theretoat least three times during their terms respectively although they could have been removed at any time for good cause without advance notice given either party involvedand this power remained vested exclusively with the original appointeesuntil 1936when it was transferred from Sorenson to Harold Mudgett effective January 1st following Mudgett's appointment as commissioner of public works pursuant to section 8-7-15 et seq., chapter 258 Laws Of Utah 1907-. As commissioner of public works, Mudgett exercised exclusive jurisdiction over all matters pertaining thereto including but not limited to: assessment, collection and expenditure thereof, building permits, zoning regulations etc., subject only unto such rules and regulations as may be prescribed by him under section 8-7-20 et seq., chapter 258 Laws Of Utah 1907-. By virtue thereof I certify that said Harold Mudgett acting alone hath carry out said delegation without reference thereto or solicitation from any person

In addition to its many natural resources including watermelons, bananas, cotton crops, potatoes, hayfields and mills; Bountiful has also developed several well-known tourist attractions such as Zion National Park (with its beautiful canyon views) and Roy Rogers Museum/ theme park which opened in 1994.
