Bountiful, Utah is a town located in Kennebec County, Utah, United States. The population was 541 at the 2010 census. Bountiful is the county seat of Kennebec County. Bountiful has a post office with ZIP code 84726. The town of Bountiful was first settled by Mormon pioneers in 1847 and named for Brigham Young's hometown of Boonville, New York. The first store in what is now Bountiful opened in 1850. A school for Native Americans was built in 1861 and became known as the "Indian School" because it served both Mormons and Indian students. In 1875, Brigham Young designated the town site as his final resting place; he had died two years earlier at age 84 from Bright's Disease brought on by overwork and a lack of rest after leading an unsuccessful campaign to establish Jerusalem as the capital of Latter-day Saints territory. In 1870s local farmers began growing corn, wheat, potatoes, apples and other vegetables which were shipped to Salt Lake City for marketeering purposes; during that time no roads were developed within the present day city limits save one staff road running east-west through downtown that connected several farms to Salt Lake City via wagons or stages while still others transported goods by boat over Big Creek (later called Cedar River). By 1888 there were five stores and seventy-five residents living in what is now downtown Bountiful when mail service began between Salt Lake City and Provo via stage coaches on April 15th, 1888 During World War II many people worked for Douglas Aircraft Company manufacturing WASP bombers out of nearby Sheboygan Falls; production shifted from small plants near Omaha to larger facilities near Kearney just before the war ended so most workers returned home after hostilities ceased but some stayed on relief assignments until 1946 when all aircraft production moved back to Omaha . In 1950s Interstate 95 Spur was constructed Highways 362/364 led south from downtown onto Main Street connecting US Highway 12 with I-5) thenSR 160 headed north upriver paralleling main street under high water mark until reaching its eastern terminus at US Highway 191 just south of present day intersection of SR 136 & Hwy 191 Today due to multiple expansions (including increase in population) Downtown has grown rapidly into more than one block long with limited contiguous retail space allowing only two small businesses - a grocery store and liquor store - inside an open field across from Central Park which holds car rentals also . There are plans underway to redevelop 1/3 block of Center Drive between Kirkland Rd & South Temple St into apartments/retail space park

Bountiful, Utah is a small town located in Davis County, Utah. The population was 1,813 at the 2000 census. Bountiful is bordered by Cedar City to the east and south, Provo to the west and north, and Vernal to the northwest. The name "Bountiful" means "abundance." The first people who lived in what is now Bountiful were Native American Sioux Indians. A fort was built on the present-day site of Bountiful in 1847 by Colonel John C. Fremont as part of his occupation of land that had been ceded to him by President James K. Polk. From this fort a post office was established in 1852 and namedafter General George Armstrong Custer during his trip through Davis County in 1856 as part of an Indian Expedition against Comanche Indians led by Cheyenne Scouts Major John A. Nicolay and Lieutenant Jesse Benton Black Elk. In 1861 Brigham Young took up permanent residence at Fort Bridger on Great Salt Lake after moving from Nauvoo, Illinois, where he had been leader of the Mormon Battalion that fought for governor Farrington against Ulysses S Grant's forces during the Mexican-American War (1846-48). When Congress passed the Homestead Law on November 3, 1862, Brigham Young became one of its primary promoters; he called it "a model social experiment." On December 12th 1863 Joseph Smith wrote: ". . . I am all alone here with my family—no politics or religion can INTEREST me; I will work out my own salvation according to my own understanding." On January 6th 1865 Union General Sterling Price marched into Davis County unopposed following a three-month campaign sponsored by Governor John Quinby with goals including destroying cotton plantations near Weber Valley and driving Mormons from their lands east of Ogden River. As news spread throughoutDavis County about Price's arrival there began what has come to be known asthe Battle of Bountiful which ended when Confederate General Jubal Early arrived within cannon shot of Fort Bridger with 8 companies of infantry under LtCol Samuel Whitehorse leading them

In 1863, Bountiful became the first city in Utah to be fluoridated, and in 1896 it became one of the first cities in America to receive electric service. In 1961, Bountiful became an independent city and has since grown into one of the most populous cities in Utah with a population of over 100,000 residents. The city is known for its large Mormon temple complex which was completed in 1967 and is home to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (LDS Church).
