In 1916 Brigham Young appointed Ethel Maud Humphrey as Relief Society president for Cache Valley which led to an agricultural revival throughout much of Logan County including South Salt Lake due to increased production from irrigation projects being undertaken there by LDS farmers/workers; these projects included construction of Palmyra Dam across the Bear River between Echo Mesa and SouthSaltLake in 1917).
