Kenmore is a town in Clark County, Washington, United States. The population was 9,917 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Wenatchee–Clark Metropolitan Statistical Area. Kenmore was founded in 1867 and named for JohnKenmore, an early settler. The first store opened in 1868 and the town became known as the "Town of Lakes". The name changed to Kenmore in 1872 when JohnWenmor bought the land from George Ladd and patented it to himself. In 1886, he built a dam on Swift Creek which powered his sawmill until 1912. In 1907, he donated land to the town for a school and playground. The current Kenmore School was built in 1922 and replaced an earlier school that burned down in 1938. In 1936, JohnLadd donated $5,000 towards building a hospital which later became Northwest Medical Center. The stream running through Kenmore has been called "the lifeblood of the community" since its creation over 100 years ago by early settlers who drained creeks for irrigation purposes. Today's water system comes entirely from reservoirs located east of town and west of Highway 97B (the old route between Wenatchee and Shiloh). In recent decades, Kenmore has seen significant growth due to its location within easy reach of numerous tourist attractions such as Mount Rainier National Park and Lake Washingtonbeach Resort & Spa; as well as its close proximity to Seattle metropolitan area

Kenmore is a town in King County, Washington, United States. The population was 939 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Seattle-Tacoma-Bellevue metropolitan area. The town was platted in 1854 by farmers John and Lewis Kenmore, who named it for their brother-in-law, James Kenedy. The first post office in the town was established in 1855. In 1865, Kenmore became the site of what would become one of the most famous train robberies in Northwest America when two brothers known as "the Mad Men" robbed a passenger train from Tacoma to Vancouver. The first school in Kenmore opened on December 12th, 1857. A new white frame building replaced an earlier wooden one that caught fire on January 17th, 1861; during this time (1861 – 1865), there were only three schools open for students in King County: WASHINGTON School #1 (opened January 6th 1861), WASHINGTON School #2 (opened February 2nd 1861), and KING COUNTY Colored School #3 (opened March 3rd 1861). In 1912, KennethMORE Methodist Episcopal Church was built on land donated by Mrs. Catheryne Smedley which served as church ground until 1949 when it merged into First Baptist Church of Olympia to form Washburne Presbyterian Church which still uses same property today! Wesleyan Friends Meeting House also opened circa 1912 on 5 acres adjacent to Methodist Church! In 1915 Clifford Olson started his grocery store at 4402 Main Street and Store Front went up November 1916 using money he had taken from robbing a freight train nearIssaquah while driving with his girlfriend Mabel Fugate
Kenmore was first settled in 1810 by John and Ann Kenmore. The town started as a teamster depot on the Snake River, and developed into a small town with a few homes and businesses. In 1834, the town of Kenmore merged with the neighboring community of Gresham to form the current city of Kenmore.
