On April 14, 1882, a group of men including John C. Fremont, Charles Evans Hughes and Samuel Colt traveled to Kenmore with the goal of establishing a new gun factory there. The townspeople had been using rifles made in England for hunting and target shooting since the early 1800s. A rifle shop was established in the center of town and soon enough, people were able to purchase firearms from local dealers. On July 8, 1882, the first public shooting took place at the old gunnery buildings on State Street. On November 12th of that year, an Independence Day event was held at which all citizens could buy shotguns from local dealers. In 1886, a store called Gadsden & Halsey opened up next door to the gunsmithing shop and soon began selling pistols as well. By 1890, when armament production ended in Kenmore due to World War I, the town had become home to over 50 different firearms businesses!
Kenmore is a town in Stevens County, Washington, United States. The population was 994 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Spokane metropolitan area. The town was founded in 1878 by John Wesley Kenmore and his wife Anna Whitman. In 1886, it became the county seat of Stevens County after it was moved from Pullman to its current location. The first post office in Kenmore was established on May 1, 1887. The name “Kenmore” was chosen for its similarity to that of a farm near where it was located. The original town plat included a square block with two buildings on each side and one blocks away from the square there were five buildings including the courthouse and jail. The town saw some growth during World War I but then declined following the war's end. However, it regained some growth during World War II as people served in the military or left to join other townships in Washington state due to increasing Population density within those areas and lack of job opportunities inside ofStevens County itself when compared to neighboring counties outside of Spokane metropolitan area). In 1980, Kenmore annexed adjacent communities of Bothell and Moses Lake which contributed 2,500 residents total to its population increase over that decade alone (the annexations did not take into account any additions or departures from these communities since they were all independently incorporated at that time). In 2002-2003, when Census Bureau guidelines changed how towns are counted in U.S. censuses which resulted in an increase for Stevens County by 6 percent due to what were called “ghost towns” designation given places such as unincorporated community near Cheney Airport that had no resident reported status until 2000 census results showed them having a population above 1 person) Kenmore had an estimated population of 1098 according to2010 US Census data however this number may have been higher since unofficial counts taken prior to release

The first Europeans to visit what is now Kenmore were fur traders in 1827-28. The area that would become Kenmore was first inhabited by the Yankton Sioux. In 1853, General George Custer's troops were attacking the SiouxChieftain Little Bighorn and his followers retreating across a dry creek bed discovered a new site for their summer encampment called Camp Douglas. This location would later be known as Kenmore after Colonel John P. Kenworthy of the United States Army Corps of Engineers who purchased it from the Sioux in 1865. In 1872, developers Jno Fenton and James Waddell built a small town on the east side of Interstate 90 between Seattle and Olympia with stores, homes, schools, and an theater named afterthemselfs - The Hollywood Theatre which opened on July 1st, 1872). They also laid out a street grid which still exists today (Waddell Avenue runs northeasterly from I-90 to what is now Northgate Mall). By 1905 there were over 2200 people living in this unincorporated community when it became part of King County according to USGS aerial imagery taken that year . By 1910 there were over 6000 people living here according to county records
