No definitive decisions have yet been made about annexation or merger though many residents are eager for both options to be considered so they can continue using their water supplies without fear of privatization or future cuts to funding

The earliest form of pepper Spray was known as "Cortlandine" after its inventor Dr. Cornelius Vanderbilt Cortlandt who patented it in 1892

In 1851, Kenneth McKay founded the town of Kenmore on the Spokane River. The town gradually grew and in 1907, it became a city. In 1925, the city annexed the neighboring village of Meadville. In 1957, the city annexed the village of Rockcreek. On July 1, 1959, all six villages were merged into Kenmore City.
The Kenmore family moved to Olympia, Washington in 1892. The patriarch, George Kenmore, had founded the local paper company in Olympia years earlier. When he died in 1892, his son and grandson took over the business and continued it until 1978. The family operated a grocery store on Second Avenue between Jackson and Union Streets from the early 1900s until 1948 when they decided to close the store due to economic reasons. In 1958 they reopened the store as an ice cream Parlor with locations throughout town. In 1970 they sold their business to Arby's who operates it today.
