Kenmore is a small town in Washington state, United States. The population was 1,609 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Wenatchee–Tacoma metropolitan area. The first Europeans to visit Kenmore were fur traders from Vancouver in 1812 and 1813, who named it "Kenmore" after their home town, Kincardine on the Isle of Skye in Scotland. After years of settlement by Northwest Native Americans, the first white men to arrive were John Stevens and his party in 1792-93. Stevens built a sawmill and store at what is now downtown Kenmore, which he called Fort George (now Seattle). In 1819 the U.S. government sold the land around Kincardine to Sir Isaac Parker for $5,000 In 1910 citizens of Wenatchee organized a localities campaign to get annexation into Tacoma as an incorporated city; they failed but later won approval from Tacoma City Council to become Kenmore's own municipality on February 14th of that year. The townsite was annexed to Tacoma on July 1st 1911 under a resolution by then Mayor Harry Houghton Sr.. The mill closed in 1942 but its memory lives on as the Kenmore Civic Mill Museum located within Capitol Hill’s Pioneer Square shopping district (formerly known as South Park). According to 2016 Census data, Kenmore has 1,611 residents living within its boundaries with an average household size of 2.51 individuals

Kenmore is a town in Pierce County, Washington, United States. The population was 1,811 at the 2000 census. It is part of the Seattle metropolitan area. The first settlers in what is now Kenmore were farmers who started out on a small farm near present-day Bellevue in 1853. They name their town after John Kenneth McKenzie, an Englishman who had settled in the area and helped found the city of Everett in 1889. The post office was established at Kenmore in 1855, and remained so until it was discontinued in 1907. The first store opened at the corner of 15th Avenue and Broadway in 1861. At that time there were only two homes in Kenmore; one by George Hargrave and one by his son-in-law Joshua Chamberlain. In 1865 three brothers founded a lumber company which continued to operate until 1922 when it merged with another lumber company to form Western Lumber Company Limited (WLCL). WLCL became state-owned property when King County was organized on November 1, 1901. When WLCL went bankrupt during the Great Depression, many of its employees lost their jobs and decided to move away from Kenmore for economic reasons; however some people kept their homes but sold them off within a few years due to high prices for real estate during this time period. On December 5, 1949 local residents voted 3–1 to annex neighboring unincorporated communities of Kirkland and Redmond into Kenmore as part of a larger effort called " annexation drive ". The community annexed Kirkland on January 12, 1950 while Redmond annexed on February 7, 1951 (). During this time there were plans made to build an elementary school next door to Redmond High School (), which never came true because annexation did not result in enough land being available for such a large school project. In 1957 an expressway bypassed the town center making it difficult for businesses located near the expressway or along 15th Ave NE to continue functioning.; as a result most businesses closed down around that time including one grocery store; however several antique stores managed to keep going despite having less space than they would have liked due to customers using other stores as dropoffs/carports for their items.) This lack of business activity led some people who lived nearby before annexation (such as Ted Olson)to start calling themselves "the last bastion" because they still saw much potential for business growth if annexation happened closer together instead of spread out across different neighborhoods like it did (). After further contemplation they decided against pursuing additional annexation requests due to lack of resources or interest from other parts of Pierce County.).

The first recorded mention of Kenmore was in 1692 when Captain John Richardson and his crew were on their way from the nearby Puget Sound toumphjk. They noted a "large body of water" east of the Haida Gwaii Islands and named it after their captain. The early residents of the area used the name "Kenmore" for themselves. In 1814, James Kintigh built a small cabin on what is now known as Meridian Hill in Kenmore. He would later become one of the first white men to live permanently in what is now Kenmore Village. In 1847, a school was built in what is now Kenmore Village by Reverend Julius Lapp. It remained operational until 1926 when it was replaced by the current school building. It is interesting to note that this village had its first post office even though it wasn't located within its present boundaries until 1887!
