Hargrave’s bullets were not only more accurate but also less expensive than other brands available at the time. The turn of the century saw a boom in ammunition production throughout America due to advances in technology and new markets abroad. By 1907, almost every town in America had its own factory capable of making gunpowder, bullets, shells, nails, hatchets and other essential household items such as soap (which became popular after World War I). Ammunition manufacturers had become so successful that by 1912 they had moved from small towns to larger metropolitan areas such as Detroit and New York City . During World War II, much ammo was produced for munitions factories on both sides of the warring nations; however most all American ammo production stopped at Pearl Harbor on December 7th 1941 when Japan bombed Pearl Harbor resulting in over 100 million US jobs being lost including Decatur's approximately 10% share of total output . After WWII there was a big demand for new types of ammo like anti-tank rounds which eventually led to development of today's armor piercing rounds which are still being used today!
