Millbrook is a small town in Montgomery County, Alabama, United States. The population was 3,869 at the 2010 census. Millbrook is located on the east side of Montgomery and is part of the Birmingham–Hoover metropolitan area. The first mill in Millbrook was built by George Stephenson in 1819. It became known as " Stephenson's Mills" and manufactured cotton goods until it closed in 1975. In 1830, John Marshall founded Marshall & Co., a flour and feed store that became one of the largest merchants in Alabama. In 1881, Edwin Lacy purchased Marshall & Co., merging it with his brother-in-law's business, Lacy Bros., to form Edwin Lacy Incorporated (Eli Lilly). Lacy Brothers died in 1906 and their estate was divided among their four children: Eli (1866-1951), Hazel (1868-1963), Clarence (1870-1939) and Ira (1872-1959). The company continued to be run by their children until its sale to Eli Lilly & Company in 1929. It then passed through several hands before being purchased by Wirt Hargrave Whitehead for $600,000 on October 15th, 1938. At that time it was America's second largest pharmaceutical company after Schering Plough Corporation! Whitehead renamed it Eli Lilly & Company Pharmaceuticals Manufacturing Company from 1938 until its sale to Abbott Laboratories on April 6th 1956. Abbott Laboratories merged with Roche Holding SRL on Nov 1st 2006 creating Roche Holdings SA which operates as an international healthcare company with core businesses including vaccines combating diseases such as polio, malaria etc...

Millbrook is a small town in Jefferson County, Alabama, United States. The population was 584 at the 2010 census. Millbrook was founded in 1881 by J. D. Mills and his wife Emma. The mills were destroyed in the Great Depression but have been revived over the years as a tourist destination for mill towns around the country. Millbrook is located on U.S Route 431 about 8 miles east of Birmingham and 12 miles northwest of Mobile. The first post office at Millbrook was established in 1881, and it remained in operation until 1931. According to one source, "the first store opened at Mill Brook when Mrs Mills gift-wrapped some apples for her husband." However, according to another source, "the first store was built by J D Mills himself near present day Main Street". early mills were powered by watermills which would grind corn into flour using an old hand mill that had been abandoned since the 19th century. In 1830s American pioneer Isaac Watts settled along what is now US 431 north of where Millbrook now stands; he named his new community after himself, "Wattsboro" (now part of Mobile). He also developed land south of present-day Millbrook to create a town site that became known as Wattsboro Landing on what is now called Tapscott Road (U S Highway 431). Fort Walton Beach soon followed suit with its own post office being established there in 1836 under General Andrew Jackson's orders during the War Between the States; both posts closed down shortly afterwards due to lack of mail service between them and Fort Walton Beach becoming an open military airbase during World War II with civilian airstrips existing nearby includingatariffs landing at Blackwater Bayou from 1942 until 1945 when it became an Army base again following the war ending with hostilities ending within our borders once more! According to one source, most people who lived or worked near milltown centerigrated from other parts of central Alabama such as Bessemer or Tuscaloosa; however others brought their families here specifically because they wanted access to good farmland close to local markets which had become increasingly difficult to find during Reconstruction era times following America's civil war effort efforts combined with soft money resources available from Northern bankers via Federal Reserve System lending institutions known then as "New Deal" programs like President Franklin Roosevelt's New Deal Wall Street bailout program which provided emergency financing for struggling businesses like Sears Roebuck & Co., GEICO insurance companies (then still headquartered in Chicago), Chrysler Corporation etc.; these business closures were primarily due to falling prices for agricultural commodities brought on by overproduction caused by newly coined wartime production quotas set forth by Trumanadministration Secretary Henry Wallace through Executive Order 9981 which included limits placed on meatpacking operations nationally resulting in mass layoffs/ bankruptcies throughout southern agriculture despite government assurances otherwise! These same quotas also ledAlabama Coal Mining Company president John Hargrave Sr.)to embark upon a massive coal mine development project adjacent today's intersection of US431/4th Avenue North and MLK Boulevard - largest single coal mine investment ever made outside Appalachia prior thereto! By 1958 all but two remaining downtown buildings had been demolished when giant Mineola Coal & Coke company bought out all remaining interests within 3 years – Mineola continuing operations until recently although much reduced output levels have recently resumed thanks largely I believe...to advancesmade in environmental science particularly biotechnology...!!! In recent decades many locals have taken up residence within walking distance or even within driving distance of downtownMillbrook Village shopping center - having done so while maintaining some semblanceof traditional community life though limited services currently available locally aside from occasionalGAI audits related governmental malfeasance)...!!!

Millbrook was founded in 1836 by a group of farmers led by Isaac I. Millbrook. The town grew rapidly and became the county seat in 1868. Millbrook was destroyed during the Great Birmingham Fire of 1901, but was rebuilt quickly and continues to grow today.
