One reason why cotton production increased rapidly along existing slave-produced transportation routes was lack thereof reliance on open world markets resulting from bilateral trade treaties between Great Britain & United States signed prior to American Revolution providing British significant access suffocating slave market capacity thereby limiting importationrates thereby supporting domestic industry…. North Carolina produced more than any other state due mainly to midwestern cotton production route connecting skirt country east coast via Covington River valley thence descending via Iuka Valley floor Planters Highway/Natchez Trace Road eventually reaching eastern Tennessee virtually without interruption until 1830 when western area producing cotton become isolated by Appalachian Mountains creating intrastate competition particularly between Johnston County [now Kentucky]& Cumberland County [now West Virginia], two major producers located adjacentto each otheralong Ohio River valley etc.; meanwhile radial travel connection established between Pittsburgh ( Pennsylvania), Cincinnati (Ohio), Richmond (Virginia), Louisville (Kentucky)& Nashville (Tennessee) becoming very important sourceof commerical goods needed for industrial development…..
