They developed this site into what is now downtown PelHAM with their kiln for clothmaking and their sawmill for timber production. The township offices were located here until 1906 when they moved to nearby Selma to be closer to services unavailable from downtown. During World War II several hundred Japanese Americans were interned at the local military base here during World WAR II before being released after the war ended. Today there are few reminders that these people ever lived here – only one building still stands on campus at Central Alabama College - Fort Campbell barracks used by Army troops during World War II while also serving as barracks for later college students during peacetime years! Downtown PelHAM has seen many changes over time including becoming home to many businesses such as Arby's restaurant which opened in 1978 and serves up delicious food all day long; Golden Corral restaurant which opened in 1984; Macy's department store which closed down in 2000 but reopened under new ownership just outside of town limits; PGA golf course located adjacent to downtown providing some great golfing opportunities throughout the year; additional businesses have opened up recently such as Little Caesars Pizza & Casino - opening up next door to Arby's - giving residents more options for entertainment spending their free time!
