Selma, Alabama is a town in the US state of Alabama. The population was 9,812 at the 2010 census. It is the seat of Selma County and was founded on November 12, 1871 by white residents of Mobile, Alabama who moved there to escape African American culture. In 1965, Selma became the capital of Montgomery County following its establishment as an autonomous city within Alabama. The integration of Selma's schools led to confrontations between black students and schoolteachers across the county until 1968 when a white teacher-led boycott ended with the arrest and indictment of nine black teachers. In 1969, voters passed a referendum calling for segregated public education in Selma; this decision was later overturned by court order. In 1970, violence erupted after two Black Panthers were shot during a peaceful march through Selma from Jackson to Montgomery; this event is known as "The Battle for Birmingham." After two years of peace efforts by both police and demonstrators, tensions boiled over again in February 1972 when three men were killed in an ambush while walking home from buying ice cream from a convenience store. This event is also known as "The week of rage." In 1976, King Street Baptist Church was bombed; this event is sometimes cited as the beginning of the civil rights movement in America. In 1984, race riots occurred throughout Montgomery County after officers used excessive force against protesters during Operation rider patrol—a sweep aimed at regulating traffic through Montgomery County. These riots eventually led to increased police brutality and improved relations between law enforcement and African Americans throughout most of Alabama. In 1990s Selma experienced significant revitalization which included new development along King Street Baptist Boulevard . A move towards more openmindedness among many Alabamians began following these developments but have since been reversed due to continued tension between African American residents and some local law enforcement officials

The revolver holster was first developed in the 1830s by Major John Fitch of the United States Cavalry. The revolver holster consisted of a strip of cloth or leather that was sewn over the gun’s barrel to protect it from dirt, sand, or other debris that might get on the gun's action. It also allowed for easy access to the gun’s cylinder when necessary. In 1854, Captain George Armstrong began development of a similar holster called the Armstrong Holster. The Armstrong Holster consisted of a piece of cloth covered by a piece of leather that fit over the pistol’s barrel and held in place with straps around both sides. This type of holster remained in use until1868 when Captain John Dallaire introduced his patent-pending “Dalton Holster” design which used metal straps instead of cloth straps to keep the weapon in place and prevented it from moving during exercise. During World War II, thousands upon thousands OF revolvers were issued to American troops overseas as part of their war effort (including those who fought under Japanese occupation). Many American officers found themselves fighting with handguns that had not been modified for service in Europe (i.e., Colt Officer's Revolver models dating back to 1873). To address this problem, Special Branch agents often adapted Colt Model No 2 revolvers (dating back to 1892) into specialized handgun carbines known as "Million Dollar Pistols." These carbines featured an 8-round magazine and were made available only to Special Branch agents and their assistants who were specially trained in using them...

The land surrounding Selma had been part of Mobile County since its establishment as a county on December 12, 1796; however, because Mobile City proper lay within Montgomery County when it became a separate county on January 3, 1836,[2] Mobile's annexation into Montgomery Counties did not eventuate until February 4th of that year.[3] In 1871 – just four years after Mobile had become a separate entity – Scotchy Irish settlers arrived at Selmas Log Cabin [now on west side of south street between Newmarket and Smith Streets], erected their home & began business operations as pioneers “erecting themselves” as early residents or Citizens of this new Town site called “Selma” adjacent to then newly opened CreekOODe River Territory lying Northwestwardly bounded by said creek & Surveyed by Captains James Akeley & Asahel Steele Esqs., surveyors employed therein under Order from Govt.–Burlington Gazette 7/9/1871 pp 8vo[4]). They were assisted by other pioneer families soon thereafter including: McNamara brothers hardware storekeepers also from Ireland; Doherty cattle herders from Waterford; Fitzpatrick milliner shopkeepers also from Waterford; Curran blacksmiths also beginning to arrive with tools acquired thru purchase or acquisition….. Soon many farmers connected with these early businesses found success raising cotton and hogs for market…. For most citizens there was little else but farming which provided them subsistence through tough times during those days especially during drought years followed by hard times when prices for goods skyrocketed due to overproduction causedelaNational currency worth $1 per pound gold high paper money worth $10 per pound both high enough quantities to cause great inflation albeit tame compared today although purchasing power parity has eroded some say about true value difference]. This early history can be traced back much further still with evidence indicating that Cherokee Indians were living prior to Indian Removal Act(March 10th 1830) when all Cherokees east Tennessee excepting direct descendants removed westward under US government order ending any residual tribal authority…… Most Cherokees remaining east Tennessee plus their descendents elected finally president James Kenedy (1794–1868) July 5th 1830…………………………………….. She fought for economic justice, racial integration, and education reform while working to support her colleagues across party lines. In February 2011, Selma was critically injured when a pipe bomb exploded near her home during a speech she was giving in Birmingham
