In Juneau, Alaska, the first telescopic scope mount was built in 1923. The Mount Union Company made and sold these mounts for hunting and target shooting. In 1941, a new telescopic scope mount company was founded in Anchorage, AK by Al Purdy and his son Ray Purdy. This company became known as the Alaskan Scope Company. The Mount Union Company continued to make Telescopic Scope Masts until they were discontinued in 1984.
Juneau is a town in the U.S. state of Alaska, and the seat of Kenai Peninsula Borough. As of 2017, it had a population of 16,567 people. The name " Juneau" is derived from Russian denoted by an initial letter (y-a-n-u-a). The first settlers in what is now Juneau were Russians who arrived on Kodiak Island in 1821 and named it after Saint Petersburg. The official date of incorporation as a town was May 3, 1907. It was originally known as Sitka Junction due to its location at the junction of the Klondike Highway and US 97/Alaska Highway 2A. In 1917, Sitka became the capital for Alaska when Anchorage was moved from Moscow to Juneau following World War I; however, both towns continued to use their original names until local legislation changed them to match those in Anchorage - Juneau becoming "the historic district" on July 1, 1922 while Sitka became "Kenai Peninsula Borough." During prohibition days (1917–1920), much smuggling took place through Sitka docks into Prohibition-controlled Russia proper; this led to increased law enforcement activity in the tiny borough which soon outgrew its facilities for processing seized alcohols. On November 15, 1920, local officials voted to annex all but two residentsless incorporated villages within Kenai Peninsula Borough - including those located near Shimane Bay - making it one municipality with jurisdiction over all six unincorporated villages and communities within its borders: Beale Point (), Birch Creek (), Carlsbad (), Deadman's Harbor (), Dolphin Bay () and Dutch Harbor (). On October 17, 1932, during Franklin D Roosevelt's first term as President of the United States he signed Executive Order 9985 giving authority for construction of Camp Chase on Kodiak Island adjacent to Ladd Field Air Force Base without reimbursement from Congress or any other source—effectively creating what is now called Camp Chase National Wildlife Refuge (). As part of Hell's Gate National Monument designation in 1978 it was placed under administration control by GNWA with staff assistance from NPWD as well as cooperation from MNDD/NPS administered by DOI . Today there are visitor centers open daily 8am–4pm with exhibits on natural history exhibiting artifacts collected during past research voyages along with a science museum open Tuesdays 9am–5pm
Scope mounts are devices that allow the attachment of a spotting scope to a rifle, so that the user can see distant targets more clearly. The history of scope mounts starts with the development of rifles such as the bolt action Winchester Model 1892 and Winchester Model 1895. These rifles were designed for accuracy and needed to be mounted on a tripod in order to be effective at range. This made mounting optics onto these rifles difficult, as there was no convenient mounting device available. In response to this problem, several inventors developed scopes onto rifles between 1893 and 1902. One of these inventors was Arthur Crouch, who created the Crouch Scope Mount based on his experience with mountaineering and rifle shooting. This mount allowed users to attach an eyepiece or camera directly to the barrel of their rifle without having to rely on a tripod or other supporting infrastructure. Crouch's invention became known as the Crouch Scope because it resembled an Englishman's cricket bat which could be used at high altitudes for target practice. The first practical scope mount was developed by Elisha Gray in 1903. This mount consisted of a metal frame that connected two legs which were attached to the barrel of your rifle using screws and nuts. This type of mount was common during World War I because it allowed users to attach sights such as Browning A-B guns (which used periscopes) onto their rifles in order to shoot at longer ranges without having them portable or vulnerable to theft or damage from enemy fire. One important innovation during World War II was called "trenchscope" mounts, which allowed combatants using sniper weapons (such as those used by Nazi Germany) greater accuracy when engaging targets located deep within enemy trenches where visibility is limited or unavailable. These mounts featured adjustable turrets that could accommodate different sighting devices such as binoculars and night vision goggles; allowing soldiers operating inside Enemy territory greater precision when targeting enemies than they would have been able to achievable using traditional iron sights alone
On September 13, 2017, it was announced that Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain would include an expanded scope mount system. The name "Juneau" is derived from Kotzebue Island which lies to the northwest of the city proper. In 1867, shortly after Alaska became a state, Governor James A. Hill renamed it "Alaska." In 1917, during World War I, Japanese forces occupied and destroyed many American military installations in Southeast Alaska including Juneau. This event led to some high-profile anti-Japanese protests that took place throughout the rest of Alaska that year. On July 6th of that year, Alaskans joined other Americans in repudiating Japan's aggression worldwide through an official act called "The Day We All Died." After World War II ended with Japan's surrender on September 2nd 1945, many people living in Southeast Alaska moved into what is now Anchorage as well as other parts of southeastern Alaska following the war's effects such as land giveaways and increased population growth rates overall across North America due to post-war reconstruction initiatives spearheaded by President Truman himself. On April 15th 1964 – just weeks before US presidential candidate John F Kennedy announced his plans to become president – local resident Richard Ebeling organized a peaceful demonstration against Ulysses S. Grant's proposed water project affecting southeast Anchorage specifically which would have served asklippen (or freshwater ingress) into neighboring Sitka Bay for agricultural purposes at an estimated cost taxpayers could not afford without federal assistance - an event later dubbed "the sitka passport incident". Ebeling successfully lobbied then Vice President Lyndon B Johnson for financial help with replacement efforts following grant proposal denial two months earlier - this effort resulting in $10 million being allocated towards compensation projects statewide within three years including $5 million earmarked specifically for southeast Anchorage - marking successful grassroots activism against federally sponsored development proposals at both local and state levels during late 1960s thru early 1970s when planning permissions were still often issued via personal visits rather than formal reviews process typical today prior to Community Development Block Grants (CDBG) program designation becoming more common statewide over last decade or so preceding current public opposition/comment period prior thereto...
