In 1994-1995, AV Firearms moved into their current location at 5602 E Speedway Rd., which is now home to both the store and their online presence. The shop continues to specialize in firearms sales while also offering online orders and customer service through their web presence. In 2000-2001, AV Firearms merged with Big Time Arms & Ammo Company which had been operating since 1978 in neighboring Camelback City. Big Time Arms & Ammo was then one of the first gun stores open during the late 1980s when concealed carry laws were much stricter than they are today. With its merger with AV Firearms, Big Time Arms & Ammo became one of Avondale’s largest retailers and continued to offer firearms sales as well as carrying a wide variety of related items such as ammunition and sporting goods.
Avondale is a small city in Apache County, Arizona, United States. The population was 3,521 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Phoenix metropolitan area. The name "Avondale" comes from Spanish and means "happy valley." Avondale was platted in 1887 by John Witherspoon and James Irvine as a town located on the east side of what is now Scottsdale Road. In 2009, another large project proposed for Avondale –the redevelopment of an old air force base into mixed-use development –was canceled due to opposition from nearby homes and businesses who felt that such an undertaking would only increase traffic congestion around campus and worsen air quality issues near the airport.
