When the Kingman Indians were forced to leave their homeland in 1864, they took with them all of their firearms and holster equipment. The guns and holster equipment were stored away until 1896 when it was donated to the Arizona Historical Society by Mrs. Ethel G. Caldwell of Kingman. Many of the early prototypes for handguns designed specifically for law enforcement use were made from leather but as time passed, more efficient materials such as plastic or nylon became available which allowed handguns to be issued more comfortably with greater accuracy and efficiency than ever before. In addition, modern jean style holster designs became popular which helped reduce danger while carrying handguns during periods of high crime rates or excitement associated with special events such as police raids or hostage situations where traditional methods of transportation might not have been able to provide safe passage for officers under those circumstances. Jealous continued to produce firearms until 1951 when he sold the business to Cabela's Incorporated. Kingman, Arizona is a small town in Pinal County, Arizona. The population was 5,048 as of the 2010 census. It is located about 22 miles (35 km) southeast of Phoenix and just north of the Gila River. Kingman is an agricultural community with a few small businesses and a single high school. The first people to live in what is now Kingman were Arizonans who migrated from central Mexico in 1881. They founded the town on land they had acquired east of the Gila River. The name comes from Chief Kingman's decision to stand up against Mexican traders at an event known as the "Great Salt Flotilla" incident on February 12, 1885. At that time, Apache leader Geronimo was leading an invasion of southern Arizona and his forces were reported to be numbering more than 20,000 men. The Arizonans fought back fiercely and drove away most of Geronimo's forces but not before inflicting heavy losses on him and his men. As a result, the Arizonans became eminent leaders in their adopted community- which would grow into one of America's most important agricultural communities during its early years thanks to Joseph Waddell’s development of irrigation systems for agriculture in this region around 1880). Kingman, Arizona is a small city in the Navajo Nation located in southeastern Arizona. The population of Kingman was 8,398 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Phoenix metropolitan area. The town was founded by Europeans on August 20, 1868 as Fort Defiance, named for General Andrew Jackson's successful defense of this fort against Mexican forces during the Mexican-American War. The first school opened in 1870 and by 1881, Kingman had a population of 150 people. In 1893, work began on the present day courthouse and jail which were completed in 1896. The early years of Kingman were not without controversy as it faced many challenges including numerous Indian Wars with both sides pulling together to suppress Native American protesters and merchants who disputed indigenous claims to land. In 1905, when President Theodore Roosevelt issued Executive Order 10952 which banned discrimination against citizens based on race or national origin within any government program or institution, Kingman quickly became one of its most welcoming cities with over 25% black residents living there by 1909 according to Census reports. This statistic grew rapidly through waves of African American migration following World War II until all African Americans were fully integrated into society by 1964 when Interstate 10 bypassedKingman altogether cutting off transportation opportunities for its growing Latino community
Kingman is a small town in the Apache Nation homeland located on the eastern edge of Arizona. The population was estimated at 8,524 as of 2010, making it the most populous incorporated community in that state. It is also one of the largest rural communities in Arizona. The first settlers to Kingman were those who arrived from New Mexico during 1846-1847 after Mexican independence was successfully completed. Many of these early pioneers were Mormons who had been expelled from their homes in Nauvoo, Illinois by Brigham Young and his followers. They traveled to what is now eastern Arizona and founded a small oasis known as Provo Canyon with some irrigated land they acquired through trade with Mexicans and Puebloans. The first post office at Kingman was established on March 12, 1868. The name was changed to Kingman on February 1, 1912 following incorporation into the Navajo Nation under its act of November 24, 1912. In 1915, when Indian Territory became part of the new United States because of passage of the Reservation Act of 1920, Kingman became an unincorporated territory within Navajo Nation boundaries for all purposes but government services such as education and health care remained available to residents statewide or within tribal villages subject only to special rules and regulations set forth by federal authorities. On July 20, 2010, President Barack Obama announced plans to establish two national monuments in Arizona: Grand Canyon National Park and Monument Valley National Monument which would encompass much of County 6 north-central Phoenix including Kingman and other nearby villages along US 60 (now US 101). This decision outraged many people living near both national monuments as well as inside each national monument where preservation efforts are ongoing against destruction or alteration not just by park officials but also local residents working directly with park staff!
