In 2014 Mayor Greg Stanton proposed that Tempe be added to Phoenix’s city Limits but it failed to pass through city council approval
The Maricopa Indian Reservation was established in 1867, and became a U.S. Territory in 1912. The reservation is located in the central part of Arizona, east of the Mexican border and north of Phoenix. The reservation covers an area of 9,653 square miles and includes about 160,000 people.
