This discovery led to the founding of Sierra Vista by Hiram Bingham and James Waddy as a Mining Camp on October 11th, 1875. The town was named after Mount Whitney which can be seen from downtown. Sierra Vista experienced some harsh weather during its early years but has since become one of the most tornado-free cities in the US with only 2 confirmed tornadoes having ever hit the city since 1990! In fact, there have been only 3 Tornados that have caused damage or killed people within 100 miles of Phoenix/Mesa AZ (excluding Tucson) - all occurred outside of downtown Sierra Vista! Today, Sierra Vista owes much to its downtown core which includes several blocks of commercial and cultural buildings dating back to when it was known as mining camp days before becoming a thriving city full of families and businesses over 60 years ago! Downtown redevelopment began in earnest following World War II when many servicemen returned home and started buying property here including local developer Donatello Salvatore who redeveloped much of what remains today including numerous high-end shops such as Nordstrom Rack & Co., Macy's Department Store & Blockbuster Video etc., creating one of Northern Arizona's largest retail districts still extant today! Today's Santa Fe Drive runs through downtown making it easy for residents to get around without feeling like they're trapped inside an old industrial district anymore!

However despite these controversies Winchester continued making excellent quality Firearms including Air Guns even under company control until 1979 when everything changed with a new CEO who decided Air Guns should be produced under one umbrella company name – Remington Arms Corporation effective 1 January 1980

The name Sierra Vista comes from the Santa Rita Mountains which are located near the town. Sierra Vista was founded in 1879 by Spanish settlers as a Mormon colony known as Cerritos Mesa de la Antigua Sociedad Canoamericana. In 1912, Mexican immigrants founded a community called San Miguel to house their families after they were expelled from Alta California following the Mexican-American War. The first post office opened in 1888 and functioned until 1907 when it was moved to what is now Sierra Vista proper. The first school was established in 1882 and operated until 1903 when it was replaced by a public school that still operates today. In 1916, the U.S military established Camp Bowie within miles of Sierra Vista on land acquired from Cochise Indian Nation for use as an Army base during World War I. This camp served as home to over 10,000 soldiers until it closed in 1919 due to budget constraints brought about by World War I and other wars going on at that time; however, some remnants remain today including Ft Apache National Monument which overlooks Camp Bowie; and several smaller military cemeteries nearby including Ft Huachuca National Monument and Cameron Heights Cemetery just south of town.. As development became more rampant throughout Pima County during the early 20th century many small businesses were consolidated into larger companies with names such as Southern Pacific Railway Company (SPR), Western Electric Company (WEC) etc.; these companies continued to operate through various mergers into larger conglomerates such as Northern Pacific Railroad (NRA) etc.; also during this time period various schools were established throughout town such as an all-girls high school named Sierra Vista High School which opened its doors in 1907 followed by three boys high schools: Highland Park High School 1909-1912, Desert View High School 1915-1920 and West Valley High School 1922-1925; also during this time period various streets were renamed or rechristened after major railroad company founders or presidents such as John Denton Steele (later CEO of WEC), Hiram Sibley Johnson (founder/ president of SPR), George Pullman (founder/ president & CEO of NRA) among others.. In 1950,zonation boundaries changed along with numerous other changes resulting from American Southwest annexation resulting in much enlargement of Pima County making Sierra Vista one of its newest communities adjacent to Peoria and Avondale; also during this time frame large numbers of people relocated from northern Mexico Cityilera where many had worked prior to incorporation into Pima County.. Today much like then Sierra Vista has seen steady growth with new construction being erected both inside and outside its walls with most residents having grown up within its confines either born or raised there; moreover recent annexations have not stopped locals from continuing their traditions or culture rooted deep within their hearts ..
Sierra Vista was founded in 1876 by Captain James Irvine, who had a ranch there. The city was named for Pleasant Valley where Irvine spent his summers as a child. In 1912, the city was incorporated and became a town. It voted to become an independent country village in 1959.
