When the Bureau of Standards and Technology (BS&T) was created in 1898, ammunition was not a part of its mandate. At least six rounds were fired from an AR-15 rifle at a Surprise home early Sunday morning, police said. The gun owner reported that they woke up to the sound of gunfire and saw three people running out their front door with what appeared to be handguns, authorities said. The occupant of the home then opened fire on the trio, striking two of them. One person was shot and killed while fleeing the scene; the other two fled into a hiding spot before being apprehended by police. It is not yet clear if all six rounds were used in that initial attack or if there are additional victims involved.
