Ammunition production at this location continued until 1861 due to World War II-related restrictions on gun manufacture within the United States (see History: WWII). Bentonville remains one of America's most active firearm manufacturing communities today with many businesses supplying ammunition to both retail customers and military personnel across many industries including agriculture, construction, law enforcement, healthcare and more.

The first rifle ammunition was created by George Armstrong in 1848. This type of ammunition consisted of small, round lead balls that were fired from a muzzle-loading gun. The use of this type of ammunition led to the development of firearms that could be used with greater range and Accuracy.
Bentonville is a city in the Arkansas Delta region of the United States. The population was 24,898 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Little Rock–North Little Rock–Conway, AR metropolitan statistical area. Bentonville was founded in 1871 as a small town on the banks of the White River by three businessmen from Kentucky: John H. Sims, GEOFFREY WALKER and WILLIAM FIFTY-ONE. The first post office was established in 1872 and it was called "Aurora". In 1881, Bentonville became an incorporated municipality with a population of 10 residents. In 1910, Bentonville became one of two cities to be created within Arkansas by an act of the U.S. Congress which expanded Arkansas Territory to include all of western Arkansas except for Pulaski County and northeastern Oklahoma Territory (the present day Oklahoma City metropolitan area). At that time, Bentonville had a population of 20 people and was home to several businesses including a lumberyard and cotton gin. In 1916, when Arkansas attained statehood, Bentonville became its third city and retained its role as a municipally-controlled agricultural center until 1980 when it became an independent city under the provisions of Arkansans For Statehood which later passed into federal law as The Unification Act (Pt II) A new charter for City Hall and other municipal services were adopted on August 15th 1980 which included 11 wards with 100% African American representation On July 1st 1984 there were significant changes effected to local government withinArkansas when The Municipal Settlement Agreement went into effect creating four First Class Municipalities - Conway, Fort Smith, Jacksonville Beach & Magnolia Springs - each with their own Mayor/Council Member/ Council President The Municipal Settlement Agreement mandated that all municipalities achieve “Unitary Status” meaning that all functions are vested in one entity - typically this would be an elected body made up primarily or wholly thereof African American males over age 25 who meet certain qualifications This change not only brought about substantive change within local government but also signaled an era where black governance had become institutionalized throughout much southern Arkansas
The village of Bentonville was founded by George Washington in 1786. The town was named for General James Wilkinson, who commanded the post during the American Revolutionary War. In 1814, Bentonville became a county seat and remained so until 1907. During that time, it also served as the capital of Arkansas.
