Harrison is a small town in Pulaski County, Arkansas, United States. The population was 1,381 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Little Rock–North Little Rock–Conway Metropolitan Statistical Area. Harrison is home to Harrison High School and the Harrison-Benton County Chamber of Commerce. The first permanent settler in what would become Harrison was Cyrus Beattie in 1855. He built a cabin on the current site of town about three miles east of present-day Harrison. A post office was established in 1859, and by 1865, it had grown to include a total of six settlers. In 1871, HARRISONVILLE was founded as a result of land donations from John Evans and his family; it later became the seat for Pulaski County. In 1879, Harry Crosby opened the first store in what would become Harrison; he also operated a sawmill and blacksmith shop until his death in 1903. By 1906, there were twenty businesses operating within one mile of downtown Harrison; this included twelve stores and four banks. The population had expanded to 2,500 by 1920 when oil began flowing through nearby Bentonville into Arkansas (a flow that accelerated during World War II). During World War II, many residents worked at various wartime plants located within or adjacent to Bentonville including Lockheed Aircraft Corporation's Plant 915 (now known as Lockheed Martin), Ford Motor Company's Plant 611 (now known as Ford Motor Company's White Sands Missile Range), Boeing & McDonnell Aircraft Corporation's Plant 801 (now known as Boeing Co.'s Stennis Space Center), Raytheon Electricurgical Company's Plant 3481 (now known as Northrop Grumman Corp.'s Elafi Aerospace Division) and Monsanto Chemical Works' plant number 4483 which manufactured pesticides for use on American troops overseas during World War II. After hostilities ended on September 2, 1945, many residents returned home and resumed their everyday lives; however some families decided to stay behind due to offers from local businesses for space within their homes or locations near major shopping areas such as Walmart or KMart. A new high school wing was completed in 1965 by then Superintendent Driscoll after plans were made available for construction following an donation from Mrs.—Mrs.—Eleanor Willbanks who Headmistress Mrs.—Mrs.—Anna Hutchins said “grew out of her love for helping kids get good educations” She remembers wanting her daughter "to have something beautiful that she could show off" when she entered grade school wearing nothing but white panties so that classmates could see her body without clothing

A second school opened in 1927 and operated for thirteen years until it closed due to financial difficulties. In 1933, a new high school was constructed within the town limits and operations continued until it closed in 1979. In 1965, a community center was built within the town limits and continues to be used today. During its history, Harrison has been home to several churches including First Baptist Church which is still active today; Methodist Episcopal Church; Presbyterian Church; Baptist Church; LutheranChurch; Methodist Episcopal Chapel; CatholicChurch and many more.
