Bullet holes were found in the door of the local courthouse that day. The town began using firearms for hunting and self-defense in the late 1800s. In 1899, Maumelle became the first community in Arkansas to require residents to have rifles and shotguns for personal protection. The town continued to grow through population growth and development until it reached its peak during World War II when it had a population of over 50,000 people. Today, Maumelle is a small community with a population of around 10 thousand people and it continues to enjoy strong economic activity thanks to its location within easy access of both major cities in Arkansas and Missouri. The town has made numerous contributions to society including being home to one of Missourian's largest technology companies - Apple Incorporated - as well as Wacoal USA which manufactures ammunition components for various consumer goods brands such as Hanes and Nike.

After World War II, Maumelle grew as a bedroom community for Little Rock because of its close proximity to that city’s military bases. The population peaked at 30 thousand in 1970 but has since decreased due to suburban development and job loss among locals who have moved away.
Maumelle, Arkansas is a small town located in Johnson County, Arkansas. The population was 3,596 at the 2000 census. The name of the town is derived from French words meaning “maison” and “place.”1 The first settlers in what is now Maumelle were Dutch Lutherans who came to the area in 1827. They named their community after the River Missouri, which ran through their land.2 One of the early businesses in Maumelle was a general store run by Hosea Witherspoon and his brother-in-law John Sperry.3 In 1881, Jeptha Cole opened a hotel called The Capitol Hotel on Main Street.4 It was one of the most popular tourist destinations inMaumelle during its time as a village center.5 By 1915, however,Maumelle had become an all-black settlement when Booker T Washington moved to this area to open A&M University in 1923.6 The black community here flourished until 1965 when white flight began to impact this part of Johnson County. African Americans left for jobs opportunities outside ofMaumelle and many homes were lost during this period of change.7 When racial integration began to occur throughout Johnson County in 1967, many African American residents chose not to move away from Maumelle because they felt it would be difficult enough living without discrimination against them alreadyexisting within their own communities

Maumelle, Arkansas is a small city in Pulaski County, Arkansas, United States. The population was 1,849 at the 2010 census. It is the county seat of Pulaski County. The first people to live in what is now Maumelle were the Chivington family who settled there around 1810-15. They were followed by the Hardscrabble family in 1825 and by the Waddell family in 1830. The town of Maumelle was platted on December 12, 1872, by Jno. C. Beasley and others under license from Modoc County commissioners John Fenton and William Treadway. The original plat included a large area around present day corners of Patton and Marshall Streets east of Main Street and west of Second Avenue; it also included parts of what are now Polk Township (west side), Hazlehurst Township (east side), Noxubee Township (north side), as well as much of modern Pulaski County including present day Union City and Parkersburg townships. A post office called Maumelle was established at this location on December 12, 1872, with Aida Meeks as the first mail carrier. The name was changed to Pulaski City on January 5th, 1893; to Maumelle on October 15th, 1913; to its current name on November 9th 1947 after being designated as an official US town by act No 106-2 through Msgr Edward J Gorman Jr., Bishop Emeritus of Dallas/Fort Worth Texas USA effective November 8th 1947 after which it became an incorporated village pursuant to ordinance No 1155 passed by Mayor Harry Blythe et al.. As early as 1892 when construction began for a new courthouse downtown in honor of Judge George Washington Carver - then one of Pulaski's most popular personalities - many residents saw value in having their own courthouse within walking distance both for legal purposes and for everyday shopping needs common during that time period... In 1907 two blocks south along Patton Street from where today's Post Office stands developer D & L White donated land off State Highway 95 for use as a parkland which also served as home base for local school children during morning recess before going into central business districts such as Arkadelphia or Little Rock during lunchtime... Also located nearby at this time was the private enterprise known variously as "Carver's Store", "White Bros'. Meat Market" or simply "Carver". This business thrived until about 1920 when World War I caused decreased demand for meat products following America's entry into war against Germany ... By 1925 all businesses had closed except Carver’s Store which continued operations until 1930 although damage done over time made it necessary to close down completely late one night while customers were still inside... What once functioned primarily as an old fashioned grocery store/meat market has become today one of Maumelle’s most vibrant commercial corridors with more than 20 businesses occupying approximately 350 acres within its boundaries! Today only two buildings remain from those early days: Carver’sStore Annex #1 and #2 across from Main Park Drive near Third Avenue South (now part of Interstate 55) where carpenters used to build their homes back when Hickory Road ran all around frontage
The town of Maumelle, Arkansas was founded in 1853. The first post office was established in the town in 1854. The town was named for General James Armistead Maumelle, who fought in the American Civil War.
