The original Holloway Dam followed by the construction of White Sands Missile Range (1962) led to an increase in energy needs for Mountain Home and surrounding communities which necessitated the construction of several new dams including Pine Bluff Dam (1974), Midland Lake Dam (1981), and Cedar Rapids Lock & Dam No. 2 (1984). In 2006, it was announced that Mountain Home would be receiving $40 million from stimulus funds to help with infrastructure projects such as water systems and roads that have been long neglected or damaged by time and neglectful government officials when it comes to infrastructure development in Pulaski County specifically within its borders; these include but are not limited to: Mountainside Drive Bridge replacement project; Cherry Creek Road reconstruction project; Middle Fork Parkway interchange reconstruction project; Forest Grove Boulevard widening project; North Little Rock Avenue widenings project etc...
