Searcy, Arkansas is a town in Sevier County, Arkansas, United States. The population was 3,811 at the 2010 census. It is the county seat of Sevier County. The town was founded in 1881 by John Searcy and named for him. The first post office was established in Searcy on October 15, 1881. The current post office building was built in 1907 and is located on Main Street. In 1904, J.C. Earp discovered gold at Searcy Creek and became its namesake; he also mined the creek for gold over his lifetime. In 1923, Earp's brother-in-law Wm Hargrave platted what would become Searcy as a village; it incorporated as a city in 1928. By 1930, all of Sevier County had been organized into townships; Searcy became one of those townships when it merged with White City to form White City Township #1 (now Arkadelphia). In 1935, Searcy voted to annex by referendum the unincorporated community of Green Cove Springs which lay within its borders but not part of White City Township #1 because Green Cove Springs had no school buildings or water supply and no street nameakes other than "township" or "county". On July 1, 1937, White City Township #1 annexed by Searcy without an referendum vote due to concerns that there would be no school building available within the new boundaries if the township were not annexed directly by Searcy rather than through petitioning process which would have required approval from both local residents and the state government as required for any annexation proposal within Arkansas’s 2nd congressional district before taking effect retroactively pursuant to then- governor Orval Faubus’ Executive Order No.–30–A (dated November 25th). Downtown Emeryville opened up after being closed off from main streets following World War II due to lack of room in postwar housing developments east of Interstate 20 while west side Emeryville continued to grow largely because of Interstate 30 construction which diverted traffic away from downtown during peacetime but subsequently resumed once hostilities ended Searcy has seen significant redevelopment over recent years including: an initial growth spurt starting around 2005 centered around old quarries near downtown where developers began using them as mixed use development including apartments atop former quarries as well as office space on top several thousand square feet leased out since then totaling some 8 minutes walk from Downtown Emeryville now home to some 190 businesses with a total workforce size nearing 5500 people

The townsite that now includes Searcy was laid out by John Fenton and James Matson on June 10, 1909. They were two of the original incorporators of Pulaski County. According to the US Census Bureau, the town has a total area of , all land; however its municipal boundaries extend into both cities of Winfield and Great Falls (though these are considered part of Searcy). As of the census of 2010, there were 1,849 people residing in the town: 753 ( 49% male and 50% female) ages 18 and over; 514 households; 2 Dormitories; 4 housing units built prior to 1978 which have been abandoned or used for other purposes but remain vacant; 95 families ( 42% married couples living together with children under 18 years old ); 276 single family occupied housing units including 100 owner-occupied apartments ; no buildings constructed after 1978 had an occupancy rate above 50%.
On July 9, 1881, Searcy was one of the first Arkansas towns to be platted. The town was named for General John C. Searcy, who fought in the Mexican-American War and was later anointed governor of Arkansas.
