In 1907, much of present-day Searcy became part of the new city of Little Rock; however, most of the growth within Searcy occurred outside of Little Rock until after its incorporation into Little Rock as a city in 1963. In 1905 Mississippi Valley Railroad began construction on an extension from Memphis to Little Rock; this addition eventually shortened the trip from Memphis to Little Rock by over three hours and made Searcy an attractive location for businesses looking to expand their reach into what was then Arkansas Territory (present-day Oklahoma). By 1916, when the railroad reached Searcy through various connections including a trackage rights sale to Missouri Pacific Railroad Company subsidiary Union Pacific Railroad Company which ran through town center on Main Street and connected with other parts of Arkansas Territory via points east and south), more than one hundred businesses had been established at or nearMain Street with plans to increase industry during World War I when America entered hostilities against Germany Today much of what once constituted downtown has been demolished as result OF Ike Turner Parkway Project which terminated traffic along Main Street between Court House Square and First National Bank Building effective September 30th 2009 making it almost impossible for tourists or business people who want to walk hand held phone pics/video along main street without needing a car

The first people to live in Searcy were African Americans who came from Tennessee in the 1840s and 1850s. They worked on plantations near Chattanooga, Tennessee. The town was named for General Nathaniel Searcy, who led an expedition against the Creek Nation in 1848. In 1865, when Confederate Gen. John Custer surrendered at Appomattox Court House, his forces burned Searcy and most of neighboring townships during the Battle of Little Bighorn. In 1892, J.C.'s Cabin No 2 was built as one of the first stores in Searcy by George Waddell and Andrew Hinton with money given by local farmers as seed money to start a grocery business that would grow into what is now Ark Encounter National Park (the park's namesake). In 1907-08 construction began on Ark Encounter where it stands today; original plans called for a smaller building but it became one of America's largest tourist destinations (now known as "the Mile High Museum"). AsArk Encounter grew larger more businesses decided to move into town including restaurants like Red Lobster and Olive Garden which have continued to operate since then as well as several new businesses such as Sam's Club which opened up in 2016 adjacent to Ark Encounter which has become one of Searcy's main attractions also drawing tourists from all over Arkansas and beyond!
