Siloam Springs, Arkansas is a small town located in Blount County, Arkansas. It was founded in 1875 by Arkansan-born settler John Siloam and his wife Martha. The community became a ghost town after the silting up of the Siloam Creek in 1917. Today, only a few outbuildings remain from when Siloam Springs was an important center for rifle shooting and target practice in the area. The first gun targets were erected at nearby White Sands Arsenal on October 25, 1876 by Major General James H. Wilkinson, who had just arrived in the area to take command of all Union forces besieging Fort Smith, Arkansas. Gunners practicing at White Sands soon became skilled at hitting moving targets over distance with cannon shells and rifles. In 1877, Major General Lew Wallace constructed a brick arsenal adjacent to White Sands Arsenal known as Battle Park Armory. The facility consisted of three ranges: one for artillery fire; one for rifle shootings; and one for target practice with cannons and rifles. From this armory began what would be an important tradition in ArkansasGun shooting tournaments have been held annually at Battle Park Armory ever since! In 1886 Colonel John Gorman established Gorman’s Rifle Range northwest of town on private land owned by John Gorman Sr.. This range quickly became well-known among shooters throughout the state due to its excellent facilities including a firing pits and stone walls around each lane that could accommodate 100 firearms! In 1907 Colonel George Cockerill established Cockerill’s Rifle Range east of town on government land which remains today as the largest open air rifle range west of Kansas City! Many other ranches were purchased or leased throughout the years to house different types of ranges such as Whitcomb’s Pistol Shooting range near Fordyceville (now part of Siloam Springs) which opened in 1915; Bearden & Brown’s Shotgun Range southwest corner Main Street/HP lot now used by Walmart; Western Territorial Shooting Grounds also located east side Of Main Street just north rearof old post office building now home to Pritchett's restaurant

Siloam Springs is a town in Pulaski County, Arkansas, United States. The population was 2,611 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Little Rock-North Little Rock-Conway Metropolitan Statistical Area. The first post office in Siloam Springs was established on December 5, 1881. The name of the town was derived from a spring located near where it now stands. At that time there were no bridges or other means of transportation across the Arkansas River so travelers had to walk or take horse and buggy ride to reach their destination. In 1907, Siloam Springs was platted and named after the silica found in nearby Sulphur Springs which helped make Arkansas one of the most fertile states in America for cottonseed production. In 1911, a dam was constructed along the Arkansas River upstream from present day Siloam Springs to power an electric plant run by Southern Electric Company (now Comcast). As construction continued on this new project, water became scarce and restrictions were placed on how much water could be used each day due to concerns about flooding downstream if too much water flowed into the river from upstream construction projects. In 1928, when Interstate 40 was built through eastern Pulaski County and southcentral Ark., Siloam Spring's primary industry slowly died out as people left for better job opportunities elsewhere inArkansas during this time period; however some businesses such as a grocery store and restaurant still remain today thanks to their location close by Interstate 40! On July 1st 1943,[2] during World War II residents of what is now known as southern Siloam Springs began cooking food over open flame using logs from local woods because there were no indoor Cooking facilities available at that time! Today many old timers still cook over open flame during special occasions such as dedication ceremonies for historic sites or funerals!
