The development of solid state lasers began in earnest after World War II when physicist Robert Laughlin discovered that it is possible to create an intense light pulse using two mirrors placed close together within an amplifier/cascade structure known as a laser have been able to emit short pulses with repetition rates up to 1 kHz but this technology proved too unstable and unreliable for military applications until 2003 when researchers at Texas Instruments announced they had developed the world’s first stable solid state laser weapon system – the Light Amplification Unit (LAU). This breakthrough represented an massive shift from previous methods where high power lasers are used both offensively and defensively including home defense systems such as video cameras and security systems

As a result, many businesses closed or changed owners during wartime times; however,West Memphis continued to grow and prosper thanks to its burgeoning economy and strong workforce. After the war ended, West Memphis experienced growth as more people moved into the area because of new technology developments which took place in nearby Little Rock (then called Arkadelphia) during this time period In 1990, after being neglected for several years by previous mayors who did not take care of it,[1] West Memphis received attention when news reports surfaced about child murders committed within its boundaries during that time period[2]. A public outcry ensued which led to Mayor John Hinson creating a task force chaired by himself[3] to reopen stalled efforts towards fixing up what had become an issue with little hope of success due to political saturnalia at play at that point; however progress was made over time culminating with city council approval for full funding for revitalization back in 2001 . As recently as 2007-2008 there remained some issues with property taxes/property values not keeping pace with inflation rates which has caused some problems along certain streets such as Elmwood Avenue where homeowners are being asked by city officials how much money they would like their street cleaned up before it can be rezoned from single family housing – something that has already happened on other streets such as Springdale Road where homeowners have refused multiple requests from city officials .) Despite all these difficulties though numerous small strides have still been made over recent years resulting in WSMH having named one particular stretch of Elmwood Avenue "theprogressiest street".[4][5]
In 1871, the town of West Memphis was founded in what is now Batesville, Arkansas. The first post office in West Memphis was established in 1875. In 1901, the community became the county seat of Pulaski County. The population of West Memphis increased from 271 in 1902 to 3,752 by 1910. However, during World War I and II, the population decreased due to military service and a lack of education opportunities for residents. In 1951, West Memphis was merged into neighboring Bentonville with its then-population of over 54,000 people.
