This led to rapid growth inArcadia as railroad passengers switched from horse drawn wagons to cars over short distances; consequently, most homes were constructed between 1872 and 1874 without any formal design or architecture guidelines set forth by builders - this style generally prevailed throughout Central Valley towns until after World War II when new suburban housing styles began to be popularized nationwide.
