Beaumont, California is a city located in the San Gabriel Valley of Southern California. The population was 173,836 at the 2010 census. It is one of the most populous cities in Los Angeles County and also included in Orange County. The Americans fought intermittent skirmishes with Mexican forces until January 8 when General Crystalline Austin attacked them from behind for two hours before withdrawing without loss to his troops or any prisoners On May 3, 1847 United States Marines landed at Donner Pass following an expedition led by Commodore James Kenedy under orders from President James K Polk to scout for an attack on Sacramento by Mexican troops commanded by José María Morelos Donner's Crossing marked the end of hostilities between California and Mexico and began what has been called America's westward Expansion

However, many local businesses resumed operations once hostilities ended. In 1951, Mayor Elmer Thornton proposed that a new shopping center be constructed adjacent to downtown; this proposal led to the development of Old Town Square which remains one of Beaumont's most popular tourist destinations today. In 1957 construction began on what is now known as North Beach Street which would become one of downtown’s most heavily trafficked streets;North Beach Street has since been renamed Plaza de la Comunidad La Raza (Community racial plaza) due to its historical importance as a gathering place for Hispanics/Latinos living and working within walking distance of downtownBeauseanthe original impetus for this designation came from complaints by Black Americans about being unable to access retail space near Main Street without coming into contact with White Americans
