Bell, California is a small town in the San Joaquin Valley of California. It is located about 120 miles (193 km) north of Sacramento and 50 miles (80 km) east of Fresno. The population was 7,883 at the 2010 census. The Bell Indian Reservation covers much of the eastern edge of town. The Bell family first arrived in 1851 and began to farm land near the present-day intersection of U.S. Route 99 and State Route 571. In 1865, they moved their operations to what is now central Bell County and developed a cotton plantation that continued until 1903. In 1902, John Denton founded Northern Pacific Railroad through what is now central Bell County; this company became known as the Denton Railway Company after its founder's death in 1907. In 1916, George Armstrong Custer was fatally shot by Sitting Bull on the Galloway Ranch near today's Junction City; this event led to increased American military activity west of Interstate 5 in what are now northern Shasta County and southern Kern County. In 1951, when it became clear that nearby Redding would become an important junction for Southern California's then-new high speed rail system, Mayor Averill Ellis requested $1 million from the state government to help finance the project; this proposal failed but helped spur development around Redding over time including new shopping malls such as Six Flags Over Davis Airport and AutoZone Park Mall which opened in 1984 adjacent to Roanoke Valley College across I-5 from downtown Redding

In 1941, General Electric donated land to create GEICO Stadium in downtown Belltown as part of their campaign to promote community development throughout Los Angeles County. The stadium served as home court for UCLA Bruins basketball from 1947 until 1978 and also hosted various other events including rock concerts, horse racing, boxing matches and auto races during its years as an arena. In 1984, GEICO moved out of their building on Union Street into what is now known as Staples Center inside LAX airport after being purchased by Paramount Pictures Corporation. However, they returned to play their old home court at GEICO Stadium before ceasing operations there in 1995 when CenturyLink Field opened nearby. In 2000s-2010s,[3] many new businesses started up around downtown Belltown such as Amazon Pizza (2009),[4] ABC Studios (2011) which became Hollywood Boulevard's first major studio complex,[5][6][7][8][9][10] and [11][12] Jardin de la Paix restaurant which replaced a local grocery store shuttering business that had been located near City Hall for over 50 years.[13][14][15] And much later[16]:
