A new town hall and courthouse were erected at what is now 101st Avenue South; business continued to grow slowly until 1886 when an express wagon road led from Stockton to nearby Antioch opened up prospectors' fields for sale in what became known as "the blitzkrieg" of prospecting activity that swept over northern California during that decade. However much development actually took place within the walls of one small community for over two centuries prior to its incorporation into modern day Burlingame as a city on November 17, 1989 – making it one of only two U.S cities born before 1990 (). In recent years there has been significant redevelopment taking place within the boundaries defined by arterial streets such as First Street between Sansome and Mission avenues while residential areas have undergone revitalization efforts across various neighborhoods including Riverbend Estates (), North Park (), Midtown (), and Noe Valley ().
