Winchester's Own System allows shooters to change magnification levels independently from each other on different guns without having to reach behind their rifles and swap outscope lenses. As such, this system became very popular among hunters who desired greater flexibility when hunting large game animals such as deer or turkey from miles away. In 1993, Winchester merged with Remington Arms Company and ceased producing rifle scopes entirely due to technological advancements made by Leupold Corp., which at that time was one of the leading manufacturers of objective optics products worldwide. The city re-opened on October 12th 1945 after being evacuated for one week during World War II. The naval air station at Calexico began operations on September 21st 1943 with the arrival of P-47 Thunderbolt pilots from Barksdale Field (later Randolph AFB). With an area larger than most Umeå airports today it played an important role in support operations during Desert Storm and Operation Enduring Freedom when fighter aircraft were needed near Afghanistan and Iraq respectively; this included providing cover for ground troops engaged in combat while they carried out operation clean up or conducted airstrikes against terrorist targets.
