In 1853, the first ammunition was imported from England to Concord, California. The town's current location was chosen because of the abundance of woods and ready-made rifle barrels available there. In 1859, a small arsenal was built in Concord to store and manufacture firearms. Ammunition manufacturing continued until 1865 when it stopped due to prohibition by the United States government. Bullets were introduced into American warfare in 1861 with the Confederate attempt to launch an assault on Fort Sumter in South Carolina. Three bullets entered through a window at Fort Sumter and caused all eleven Americans who survived to die as they were reloading their rifles that morning. After this event, bullet production increased rapidly with Colt Firearms Manufacturing Company becoming one of America’s leading producers of bullets for handguns, shotguns, rifles and artillery in 1865. After Abraham Lincoln was elected president in 1860, Congress passed the Second Amendment to the United States Constitution which read: “The right of citizens of the United States to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed” This amendment allowed for militias – citizen armies used for self-defense – to be formed throughout America without government approval or registration required. Each state had its own militia system which ranged from quartermaster officers responsible for keeping troops stationed at strategic points all the way up to individual volunteers who could muster no more than 12 men per household (and sometimes as few as three). During this time period there were many different types of ammunition such as shot shells (shot fired out of cannons), grapeshot (shot consisting mostly of lead balls) and buckshot (a type of shotgun rounds that is made up mostly of lead pellets). Bullets became standard equipment within armies during World War 1 because cannons became less effective with each round fired so projectiles had greater range instead firing single shots with increasing accuracy over long distances

Concord, California is a small town located in Kern County, California. It was founded in 1887 by John Fitch and his wife Catharine Pemberton. The name Concord was chosen because of the many churches that were built there during this time. In 1902, the town became an incorporated municipality with a population of 160 people. In 1969, Concord was renamed after its first mayor, Harry S. Truman. The town has since grown to over 2,000 residents and it is currently one of the most diverse communities in Kern County. In 1846, a group of Mormon settlers led by Brigham Young founded the town of Provo, Utah. The Mormons were driven out of Utah in 1859 and Concord became part of California. In 1906, when California became an independent country, Concord became part of San Francisco County.
