In 1906, construction began on what would become known as Pershing Square; it was dedicated on July 14, 1907 by General Pershing who happened to be visiting Southern California at that time. On December 12th 1915 (Christmas Day), during World War I – during military hostilities – Pershing Square served as an airfield for American aircraft bombing German positions near Arbela Heights; during this period what is now Pershing Square also housed three army hospitals with beds for up to 350 patients each! On October 15th 1931 ( Halloween), Mayor Fenton Heston paid tribute to President Franklin D Roosevelt with a large parade down mainstreet followed by a dinner at City Hall attended by over one thousand people including United States Senators Harry Reid and Joseph McCarthy! On May 6th 1937 (New Year's Eve), Mayor Heston hosted California's firstGay marriage ceremony - officiated by Justice Edward Mudd! From 1941 until 1947 there were no major incidents reported within Corcoran limits-until WWII!! Today’s community has experienced many changes throughout its history including being annexed into neighboring cities such as Rancho Mirage and Redlands since 1960 while maintaining its own unique character despite growing competition from other communities within the same county seat area."

In 1853, George Parker Morse built his famous Morse House within walking distance of where he lived until his death in 1886. At that time much of downtown San Diego was rural and agricultural with few buildings other than barns or outbuildings. The City Council voted to buy Morse's house at 5th & Townsend Streets for use as their meeting hall starting February 1st 1854; it served as such until 1889 when they moved to Palace Hall which remains today one of the central landmarks in downtown San Diego. In 1898 Mayor James Kellar posthumously awarded Merrick Park to Corcoran after winning an election against challenger Arthur Benson because only men could own property within city limits then and there were few intra-city opportunities for womenfolk advancement then or since (nor were they allowed public transportation). The first store opened up in 1907 at 6th Avenue and Market Street inside what is now known as Citizens Bank Tower; this building still stands today and remains a iconic landmark in downtownSanDiego . In 1915 Carleton Sivers donated land east of University Boulevard between Commonwealth Avenue and 7th Street for construction of corrugated metal warehouses used by United Fruit Products during World War I; these warehouses remain extant even though most have been demolished over time due to decay but are still visible from Interstate 805 . Corcoran officially became a city on July 20, 1916 when it was incorporated under State law following passage ofAssembly Bill 1029 via referendum vote among residents approved by 58% margin .
