Daly City, California is a city in San Francisco County, California. The population was 965 at the 2010 census. It is the county seat of San Francisco and the largest city on the West Coast of America. Daly City was founded in 1868 by James Wills and named for Captain John Daly who had fought in the Mexican-American War. The first store in Daly City opened in 1869. In 1898, fire destroyed most of downtown but left some buildings standing including the old City Hall which still stands today as a museum.
