Fullerton, California is a city located in Los Angeles County, California. The 2010 census reported the population was 465,264. It is the second largest city in Los Angeles County after Beverly Hills. The GDP of Fullerton was $27 billion in 2012. The city's name comes from the fullerton orange crop that once thrived there and helped to make Fullerton one of Southern California's most prosperous cities during its heyday in the 1920s and 1930s. The first Europeans to arrive in what is now Fullerton were Franciscan missionaries who landed on November 22, 1769 on Santa Catalina Island. They named this island Monterey because they found it difficult to find an anchorage where they could land their ship due to prevailing winds blowing out to sea from the peninsula opposite San Diego Bay. After days of searching they discovered an anchor point which they named Muroc Point after Father Miguel Muroc, an early missionary at Monterey Peninsula Mission station who had been sent by Pope Clement VIII to explore southern California about 15 years earlier than any other European explorer- even though he had no chart or map prepared). In 18rande year (1868), two more missions were founded here: Rancho Buena Park on May 25th and Mission Viejo on December 6th by Father Pedro Bautista Menendez with land grant from King Carlos III of Spain through his wife Juana Maria de los Angeles y Cisneros (Bayona). From these Missions grew much of what is today Orange County including Fullerton proper which became a separate municipality on July 1st, 1907 under then-Mayor Antonio Prendergast’s proposal following annexation by Vernon Township (now part of Roswell) when that township was established as a result of state legislation called “An Act To Better organize Our City Streets” passed by the State Legislature March 4th, 1905 pursuant to Section 3(a) thereof authorizing such annexation while also creating Roswell Township therein as well as eastward extending into section 16 numbered 38 northward thereto lying within boundaries set forth therein – making full use then existing agricultural lands lying eastward thereof between said boundaries unoccupied save for Hereford Air Force Base situated upon said unoccupied lands adjacent thereto owned by said United States Government – all hereby annexed hereinto By ordinance ratified and published June 5th 1907″ Although it lay outside present day Anaheim Hills limits until 1907 it soon become home to many people working at various government agencies located there like Lockheed Martin Corporation which built Memorial Stadium across from where today's Irvine Spectrum Center stands – still hosting game days for both major college sports leagues since Fullerton has always been able to support large numbers OFA events each year despite having littleelse close at hand! In fact according To legend some say that if you go walk around downtown today some old buildings still remain from pre-war days like Pico Gas Light & Electric Company building/pump house/fire hydrant etc…though I wasn't able too verify this myself! On August 14th 1870 painter Edward Hopper donated land near Seal Beach Boulevard for church purposes only; later renamed Paramount Studios after himself! On November 12th 1902 actor/director Douglas Fairbanks donated property between Olympic Boulevard and Eastern Avenue also known then as Hollywood Park primarily used for horse races but later turned into movie studios including Warner Bros., Universal Pictures etc... All these donations led eventually toFullerons current location! On October 10th 1912 Harry Chandler donated money towards building a new football stadium south of Euclid Street specifically designated “Chandler Stadium” which would become one of North America’s most famous stadiums thanks largely to Englishman Jackie Stewart who starred there in both Ford pictures starring Arsenio Hall while additionally playing gridiron football for UCLA against Notre Dame Prep (the first intercollegiate football game played in North America!) In 1923 Jack Conway purchased Chavez' interest in Stadium prompting him rename it "Jack Conway Stadium" but unfortunately things didn't stay great with him over time although he did leave behind quite a bit property hereabouts – currently occupied by Honda Motorsports Practice Facility ! Rancho Palos Verdes was originally granted Mexican land grants along Catalina Island granting rights Of Fish Farming And Hunting Thereon To certain Persons Named Ramirez fps dated January 24 th 1851 . In 1951, Fullerton annexed more territory from Buena Park to become its third city limits - including much of today's downtown core. In 1969, Fullerton became one of eleven cities within the newly created City Of Industry district; fullerton has remained within this district ever since. On January 1, 2003, City Council voted to annex adjacent unincorporated areas that make up portions of Moreno Valley (to the south) and Lancaster (to the north). This annexation completed what had been announced as a plan by then-Mayor Tom Torre to annex all or most of these communities into Fullerton over time if they chose not to join other municipalities within Los Angeles County for development opportunities around an airport expansion project scheduled for completion in 2020. In 2007, Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa proposed annexing Garden Grove intoFullerton; however this proposal met opposition because Garden Grove's demographics do not align with those found in neighboring cities such as Irvine or Santa Ana which are also home to large suburban populations while Garden Grove retains its small town feel. On December 11th 2009 leaders from both Anaheim and Santa Ana held a press conference announcing their intent to seek annexation into Fullarton should it be approved by their respective councils; however no action was taken until March 2nd when council members replaced Villaraigosa with Jrue Sanchez who had served as acting mayor during his father’s term
