In 1941, George S. Patton was Rear Admiral in charge of the United States Pacific Fleet and Deputy Commander-in-Chief, European Command. He took command of the Seventh Fleet and moved it to Europe where he would lead the Allied war effort against Germany. In 1945, Patton led an attack on Tokyo that is now considered one of the most successful amphibious assaults in history. The resulting victory helped secure World War II Victory for the Allies and preserved their historic reputation as a superpower. The bipods were invented by John Foust in 1932 while working on a design for an air gun that would fire multiple rounds at once. Although only designed for use by American military forces, they quickly became popular among other nations during World War II. The bipod was eventually adopted by many different armies throughout the war including the Soviet Union which used them extensively during their struggle against Nazi Germany.

Hercules is a small town in the Central Valley of California, located about 131 miles east of San Francisco. Hercules is known for its agricultural industry and its remarkable natural resources, including waterholes, caves, and mountains. The town was founded by George Hearst in 1881 as a small farming community on the banks of the Sacramento River. The name was chosen to honor one of Hearst's ancestors, Hercules, who had fought against Carthage in 249 BC. From 1901 until his death in 1929, Hearst served as mayor of Hercules. In 1909, he donated land at the heart of Hercules to build what would become Hearst Ranch State Park. In 1959, after years of efforts by local residents and state officials, the public saw its first movie production when Paramount Pictures released "The Adventures of Superman". The following year saw another important milestone when fire destroyed most of downtown Hercules and created an estimated $5 million worth in damage. Thanks to donations from various individuals and businesses throughout Hercules over the years, nearly all that remains today of the once vibrant downtown is still standing!

Heracles, California is a small town in the Central Valley of California. It was founded on December 21, 1853 by prospectors George and Calista Richards. The town grew rapidly and by 1880 it had a population of 1,200. In 1902 Hercules became the administrative center of Butte County. In 1912 Hercules was incorporated as a city and in 1928 it became an urban area. The population of Hercules peaked at over 10,000 in the early 1960s but has declined since then. This small town located in the fertile Central Valley has experienced some interesting history including being one of the few places in America to be designated a “ghost town” due to its lack of development over time Hercules began as a cattle ranch run by George Richards and his brother-in-law Tommy Dolan. On December 21, 1853, Richards set up camp for the night near what is now downtown Hercules on land that he had purchased from Juan José Castilla’s Rancho San Fernando de las Flores y Las Aguas (the Rancho del Norte). The following morning he named his new settlement after Heracles, one of his favorite heroes from Greece who had helped liberate Greece from Ottoman rule. The first post office was established at Hercules on January 3, 1854 with Wm Halsey serving as clerk. By 1860 there were six businesses in operation: hotel (later known as the Hotel Enterprise), store (later known as hardware store/grocery store), blacksmith shop (later known as auto garage/repair shop), doctor’s office (opened 1861 by Dr John Doherty), and school district No. 2 which served students living east of US Highway 50 between Sacramento and Placerville In 1862 both stores were combined into one business under name Diebold & Co., which remained active until 1966 when it merged with Safeway Incorporated to form Safeway Stores Incorporated . Between 1860 and 1870 there were only two residences: Calista Richards House located west side of Main Street between First and Second Streets;[2] Harry Bendix House located east side opposite Richardson House . By 1870 there were five residences: One adjoined Harry Bendix House;[3] three bounded by Third Street, Fourth Street, Sixth Street;[4] two adjoined Third Street,[5] one bounded by Fourth Street and Fifth Avenue.[6] In 1872 Avila & Bros., attorneys general merchants , opened their brick building at 5th Avenue northwest corner First street . They continued to operate until 1914 when they moved across EighthStreet into their current location at 501A Nueces St., Phone #858-730-9191 . In 1875 Jno Ladd opened bakery next door to grocery store also operated outof this building from 1865 through 1914 before moving south down 8th street into present day Centennial Plaza complex where he continues to operate today

The first white settlers were granted land in what is now downtown Los Angeles by Governor of California Shubel Clarke in 1871. The city of Los Angeles was founded on July 4,1881, by Isadore Duncan and it became an independent municipality on November 1,1912. On April 15,1927, during the height of the Great Depression, the City Council voted to annex neighbouring Santa Monica Mountains into the city limits
