King City is a city in San Bernardino County, California, United States. The population was 2,883 at the 2010 census. A year later, Bingham Purchase #1 was made up of 1/4 of Alta Mesa and 3/8 of Yorba Linda before it was ceded to Rancho Rinconada by Separate Treaty between Mexico and Great Britain on November 19th 1830; this piece of land became Kings Valley when it was combined with Rinconada to form Redlands County in 1854. In 1878, King City became one of 30 cities included within newly formed Riverside County when that area was split off from San Bernardino County. With an expanding economy based largely upon agriculture (the county's only industry until World War II), King City prospered as a center for trade and commerce during its early years; but social unrest led to decline by the late 1800s. However, since then Mayor William Hahn's aggressive redevelopment plans have brought revitalization to town center areas including downtown streetscape renovation; new high school built on former munitions storage site adjacent to reservoirs which now house a mix of retail businesses; plus movie theater developments such as Regal Cinemas and Touchstone Pictures Plc., mixed use projects like The Pyramid Scheme restaurant complex and new housing estates such as Lakeshore Communities Place Inc.. This investment has helped bring more than $2 billion in economic development to King City since 2000 alone – generating over 100 jobs during that time period!

The site that now provides the namesake for King City was once part of an agricultural center called Chico because its farmers produced crops such as potatoes and cotton. In 1849, however, gold were discovered nearby and soon mining began here as well. A few years later, King City became one of California's main gold centers due to its rich deposits of this metal. During World War II, King City played a significant role in the war effort thanks to its location near major military installations and its ample supply of munitions. After the war ended, many residents left King City for other parts of California but some remain today including several members from the Mayor's staff who are currently serving in his cabinet.

In 1868, post office 2 became the first post office in Kingsville when it moved from Post Office 1 to Second Street east of Main Street In 1870, John Llewellyn settled in King City and began developing the land that would become North Hollywood—the area now bounded by Vinegar Hill Road (north), La Brea Avenue (west), Highland Avenue (south), and Pico Boulevard (east). In 1872 he donated 7 acres (2 ha) of his farm land to establish North Hollywood Park which today includes much of what is called Hollywood Boulevard north of Vinegar Hill Road In 1886 local businessman Samuel Goldwyn purchased 3 lots along Ventura Boulevard from Jules Steinmetz for $1,000 Goldwyn soon became one of Kingsville's most important citizens with his connections to film industry players such as Cecil B DeMille and Universal Studios president Nicholas Schenck During World War I King City served as an American military base providing housing for officers and their families After the war ended in 1918 Kingsville reverted to its original name: King City
